Wet tumbler run dry?

Has anyone tried running a wet tumbler with SS pins and walnut or corncob dry? I've been wet tumbling for a while and it's just a pain and takes a lot of time.

I would imagine it works fine. I have a Frankford arsenal wet tumbler I plan on using every other reload along with a dry tumbler

I just did it the other day, worked pretty good. I just tumbled to take the lube off after re-sizing and it worked fine.

I takes me 1.5 hours to wet tumble a batch. Same with a vibe tumbler.

I use the same media separator to remove the pins.

I dry on a towel. It takes a day. Beyond the drying, which is no big deal, I find the wet tumbler to be produce better results. It also works very well with 3 way trimming heads as it is my final deburring step.

Most of us are sucker for the new - this is better .
I use all 3 - sonic , tumbler and rotary .
About once a month I run the M T cases thru the sonic .
Smaller cases like the 25 ACP / 32 - pins don't clean well - neither does the walnut / corn cob . Same with rifle cases . So they got into sonic [ funny the 30 carbine - all 3 clean OK ]
The 38 / 41 / 44 / 45 and 50 AE - all seem to work O K .
I am kind of anal about the stuff that builds up on the crease at base - so all get sonic-ed about once a month [ M T 's only ]
Drying - I put a couple of paper towels in the rotary - seems to help dry them
[ after a wet tumble in rotary - i get the cheapest towels ] Then upside down in cartridge case

I have a Frankford Arsenal and I run it without SS pins. Water, soap and limshine..still turns out nice and chiney. SS pins are used to clean out primer pockets and inside of the cases, and for the ones with OCD. Never had any problems with my primer pockets, but then again I don't shoot bulleyes or competition just an ordinary guy punching holes through paper and steel targets.

I deprime , clean pockets and flash holes before they get tumbled / sonic / vibrator .
Most of time a bent base or split case show up then . I do wear the latex glove and they catch -

Do you clean primer pockets prior to SS tumbling or just when you use a vibratory tumbler? Because you're probably just waisting your time cleaning the pockets if you're gonna wet tumble anyways.

Try tossing in some uncooked basmati rice (uncooked please and dry) sold for about $15/20lbs or so at Costco.

You will find similar results for larger calibers, and then the rice will be gray and start to stink after a while. The completed cases also look a tad hmm, softer in the glow. Not and well defined BAM IN YOUR FACE CLEAN *****! but more softer... I have not run corncob or walnut yet.
