I had the same problem trying to find H335 and CCI#400 primers. I finally settled for BL-C(2) and Federal #205 primers. Fortunately, I was able to find a brick of the primers - the last one that they had. I purchased them from the Stockade in Westminster here in SoCal.

My A,B and C choices for powders were all unavailable. I didn't mind getting fourth choice, since I am working up a load for a new rifle anyway. Regardless, this shortage has really had me running in circles.Comment

i'm in the same boat. i had a good sum of money to spend on .223 ammo, when i couldnt find any readily available i decided to purchase reloading equip. Well i got all set up with equipment, and found components for my .300 win-mag. But i really need help finding small rifle primers, 22 cal (.224) bullets, and powder to get my .223 reloading underway.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm in California City, near Palmdale (antelope valley) and Bakersfield.Comment

Bullets haven't been a problem for me. I've been purchasing on-line at www.midsouthshooterssupply.com for quite a while now. Now that lead bullets have been banned for hunting, I've been getting Barnes bullets almost exclusively. MidSouth has a good supply in all of the calibers that I load for, 30-06, 270, 30-30, 223, 260, 25-06, 45 auto, 357 magnum, etc. You might want to try them for bullets.Comment

The online places have some, if you are willing to pay the $30 hazardous shipping charge. I'm not willing to pay that though. Here are some of the online houses that I deal with:

www.midsouthshooterssupply.com (mentioned in the post above)

Graf & Sons, the reloading authority, has a wide selection of reloading supplies, shooting supplies, ammo and more. Graf & Sons, the reloading authority, has a wide selection of reloading supplies, shooting supplies, ammo and more.
Cheaper Than Dirt! is America's Ultimate Shooting Sports Discounter, and we live up to that title. Expect bulk ammo deals, discounts, gun care accessories and more.

I posted those in the order in which I use them.

I would ask the same question as the Chief. Where in SoCal? In the Orange County area, check out The Stockade in Westminster. I purchased the last brick of small rifle primers available last Friday. However, they still had a few of the 100 packs on the shelf.

I understand that it will not help you right now but one of the things you need to do is to pick up one full sleeve of primers (5K) or an 8lb jug of powder everytime you go to the gun show. Because of this I have all 4 primer sizes in quantities of 10K or more and enough 8lb jugs of powder to keep me loading for years. Remember though, there are only 7,000 grains of powder in that 1lb jug, that equates to 280 rounds at 25grains (223) and only 180 at 45 grains (308). So if you pick up 1k primers, 500 bullets, and a pound of powder you won't have enough to make 300 rounds. The value in reloading is in bulk purchases and remember, to buy in bulk you need to spend in bulk. Get in on every group buy that comes your way, go in with your buddies and buy bullets in bulk from places like Goldenwest Brass and Montana Gold in quantities of 5K or more and then it will be worth your while.Comment

The above is so freaking true. That is how I do it.
