Reloading for the 50 Beowulf questions

Just got 250 pieces of starline brass and some Hornady bullets. Also my powder is lil gun. So here are my questions.

    1. Do u flare the case for 50 Beowulf ?

    2. Do u use a crimper die on it?

    3. Do u lube the brass when resizing?

    4. Do u have any tips for this caliber ?

    1. Yes flare,
    2. yes crimp,
    3. yes small amount of lanolin lube
    4. If you haven't bought dies yet and you're serious about it, buy the good ones from Redding. Way more expensive but they work much better.
    5. I like shooting it and have a slightly lighter load if I'm going to shoot 50 or 100 rounds at a time. 35.1 Lil gun, 335 gr Ranier HP, 2.110 OAL
    5. I use a Dillon 650 - took a while to figure out how to do it. I case feed manually unto the case tube. Rest is auto. For anyone interested you need:

    Type A shellplate #12529
    Powder Funnel 500S&W/500AE #14465
    Locator Buttons Type 2 #14062
    Large Powder Die #21253
    Large yellow casefeed bushing #13619
Type A Station one locator #12339

If I were planning on loading cast bullets for it (and I WOULD), I'd also purchase a lyman M die to replace the expander.

      And i'd still flare it.

My wife got me the Lee does for Xmas. Didn't know they were steel till I looked them up so lubing is a must now. Also I load everything single stage rcbs.

Not interested in loading cast for it. I do cast for 45 and it's a pain cleaning the the lead out of the barrel. A rifle would be that much worse.

Lee dies are GTG. Personally even if they were carbide dies I would still lube with One-Shot case lube.

I have no doubt that I am doing it wrong. It's pure lead.i know I can add **** to to make it harder but haven't. I work out of state half or more of the year and haven't had time to tinker with it. Been a few years since I've cast anything.

Lee does make 50 Beowulf dies. I know because I have them.

I was referring to Load Data...

Yes they do make them. I agree with you. But do they make .50 GI as well?

I pull my load data off the Alexander Arms website. Yes to all your questions and I trim mine as well if over spec. Be careful not to resize the casing too much or you will get a bulge while seating the projectile. I run a factory crimp die as well.

No to having a 50 Beowulf . I do have the desert eagles in 44 and 50 AE .
I too have to hand place bullets and cases.
While the 44's will fit in bullet tubes , I can only fill about 1/2 way - to heavy .
I use ground mica to lube

probably - but that can be caused by bullet not seated straight .
People think I am [ whatever ] for seat the bullet in one die and OAL in the next . I did have that when I hand placed a 50 AE in the case - I thought at the time the next die would straighten - WRONG
