You'll wait for a while though.

Last I heard, shipping for these was 2-3 weeks. I think you're thinking of their .30 Carbine ammo which has a 5 month lead time

Don't worry about it. The steel in that bullet jacket is way softer than the hardened steel in your rifle barrel.

Out of curiosity, where are you finding these steel jacketed bullets?

it says in the item description ill paste it
A: Some Ranges in the western states will not allow the use of any ammo that attracts a magnet in an effort to prevent forest or brush fires caused by sparks. Because we frequently are asked if the bullet attracts a magnet - we provide the information as part of our description to reduce the number of calls and emails we would otherwise receive. If we identify a bullet as attracting a magnet, it may mean that the bullet has a steel jacket, or that there is some ferrous material in the gilding metal.

CMP HXP is excellent 30-06 ammo. Do not worry about it. It won't ruin your barrel.

I already said that if it a bullet does have a steel jacket, its MILD steel. Rifle barrels are made of very hard steel. There is no problem.

BTW, I wouldn't consider the fact that it may have some ferrous metal in the jacket as being "steel jacketed". Lots of Russian surplus ammo for 7.62X54R is mild steel with copper plating.

No need to pay a membership fee to the CMP.

It's well worth the wait I think.

A good strategy would be to order enough to hold you over until your next order while you wait

I remember just last year in Jan 08 where I could order a case of 400+ rounds of HXP from the E-store and it would be at my door in less than two weeks.

Man, I haven't ordered from them in a year. These guys are probably right on shipping now a days. Ever since I got into reloading I just haven't been really ordering any factory or surplus ammo anymore. Everything I shoot I load myself.

If you don't mind waiting, it's worth it.
