Reloading with lead bullets go for the 45-70. The 30-30 is a lot faster and could have leading problems.

I agree but I've had this one for ages. My only concern with the Henry is barrel length and weight. What weight bullet are you planning to shoot?

True and I agree, but usually in 45-70 at steel targets at 500+ yards wimpy bullets don't get the job done and heavy bullets in a 6 pound rifle is okay for a round or two but recoil is heavy. What I'd look for is a H&R Buffalo Classic nice heavy barrel, great sights, had one in 38-55 should have kept it.
