    Labradar

Has anyone used the labradar yet? Getting a bonus and going to buy one. Wondering if I need the bench mount or can I use my camera tripod.

Pics on their site look like a standard camera mount.

GOOD FOR YOU FOR GOING FOR IT!

I am going after the Caldwell G2 Precision Ballistic upside down chrony that is supposed to work well indoors, and for $180 price...

I REALLY was wanting that labradar though.

Be advised Lab radar has a max velocity limit of 3900 FPS and if you're loading any of the hot .17 rem .22-250 or the .220 swift you're going to be out of luck

That was my reason for selecting the Magnetospeed.

I recently acquired the Magnetospeed, but for different reasons. I'm happy with it so far. It has its drawbacks like they all do, but overall its less hassle to deal with than tripod mounted units. I use it mostly indoors with handguns. That said, the Magnetospeed seems to negatively influence the accuracy of the shot, where the Labradar won't, and that's a definite advantage.

I just recently jumped on the latest craze in ammunition handloading / reloading by acquiring the LabRadar chronograph system. Chronograph units are nothing new for shooters that are reloaders &#82…

It uses a 1/4"-20 thread which is the 'standard' thread for camera tripods.

I either run it off the bench using my own home made plate or off of a generic Manfrotto tripod.

I prefer running it off the bench plate because you can get the bore line really close to the Labradar, which is ideal.

Thanks ocabj! Knowing what someone else has made work helps. I knew it screwed onto standard camera mounts, but am a bit wary as to how stable it would be. I think I'll put together simple homemade bench plate like yours. Slick and easy!

BTW - my Caldwell Chrony will be up for sale after bonus day!
