Halbrooks on Arrow just west of the courthouse has decent powder prices. Bullet prices are decent. Dies, equipment a little high though. They are a real mom and pop business and Gary Halbrook has a lifetime of reloading experience and has bailed me out a time or two.

This is over near Pomona in San Dimas/Covina and they have a website.

Great store, decent prices for powders, bullets and lead. Weird store times but oh well.

There is also ReloadOC which is right off of Douglass RD across from the Pond. It is hard to see because the door is parallel with the road, but Brian, the shop owner seemed to be a decent guy.

Bulletbarn is also in upland or somewhere around the IE as well.

If you drive to OC, I like ReloadOC but his prices are a bit too high for me. I called a few days ago to see if he has Win SPP..... he does have it in stock but they are $40 per brick right now.

Thank you for mentioning that. I DID forget to state that. I also am used to online pricing so EVERYONE with a brick and mortar store is expensive to me.

In ReloadOC's case though, yes, he may be a dollar or two higher per lb for powder than say Philips Wholesale in Covina, but he is a super nice guy and his attitude and willingness to spend time with you when you are in his store makes that a convenience and service fee in my book.

Hey, I am super cheap. So cheap that today I got married in the morning and I used a $2 ring that I found in my dresser vanity. Okay, I AM actually going to resize the (here is how cheap I am) engagement ring that I was going to give to my girlfriend instead of letting her have it (hey I paid $2200 for it back in 2003...) but after thinking about it, it DOES look like a man's ring and I DID design it, although I might have them remove the sapphires for something cooler now. POINT IS that I am a cheap bastid.

And I still bought powder off Brian when I went into ReloadOC. I got Zip and something else. I remember giving him either $50 or $76, I forgot, but he knew his stuff, he did not crowd me or watch my every move, he seemed pretty laid back and ready to jump in when I had a question. He even let me finger his Dillon 650 that he had setup.

Philips in Covina is a good guy too, but he stays behind the counter and will engage you in conversation if you have questions, but he expects you to know your **** and not be stupid when you go into his store. SO you look at his powder, know what he has in stock, know the prices, and ask for those when you get there, then grab an $8 ammo can and fill it with xx lbs of lead that you can take home and cast for $1.00 per lb...

I have not been to the Bullet Barn but I have always had pleasant conversations with them over the phone and I have not heard a single bad thing about them. They are all service oriented businesses.

Phillips is only open the last few days of each week. Check the website, but I think it is Thursday through Sunday.

They're not IE but I'm going to second/third/fourth recommending ReloadOC and Phillips Wholesale.

The guy at ReloadOC is great to talk to but his prices are a bit over the top. You basically pay a HAZMAT fee for every item you buy, but he sells pretty much EVERYTHING.

                    SPP at ReloadOC = $40
SPP at Phillips Wholesale = $30

                    4lbs Win231 at ReloadOC = $109.99
                    4lbs Win231 at Phillips Wholesale = $90

You can pretty much find anything in regards to tools, presses, casting equipment, bullets, etc, and his advice is free for the asking. He also keeps a decent inventory of powder even though it's expensive. I picked up some tools and bought that 4lb jug of Win231 figuring it couldn't hurt to support a local business but won't be making a habit of it. I'm on a budget. I can get my tools cheaper online and powder from Phillips Wholesale, but if I'm ever in a pinch and need something right away won't hesitate to give him my business.

Phillips Wholesale is nice because he sells powder and primers at online prices. You can view current inventory on his website (he even lists what's coming in that week's shipment) and posts all his prices. He has a decent selection of tools and bullets but not as extensive as ReloadOC, and even sells Dillon equipment which I don't typically see in stores. Overall his powder/primer prices are awesome! And he's only 15 minutes away, so there's that...

Both stores are worth a visit but Phillips Wholesale prices are much better if you're looking for components.

+1 on Hallbrooks on Arrow, I went there last sat.. Decent price. A real mom and pop store, great customer service, the lady which I think the wife was super helpful and nice. Good to know, there's one nearby. Let's keep supporting this kind of store to keep them open.... she gave me free targets too :-)
