    Crimped Primer Pocket

Is there a list of which headstamped brass has a crimped primer pocket. When I searched everyone talked about Lake City. I could not find mention of any other headstamps that crimp. I am really trying to find out if my WIN NT .223 cases are crimped or not.

Military brass is crimped. Commercial is not.

You can see the crimp easily when you look at the primer at the bottom of the case.

No list is necessary. It's readily visuallu obvious when it is crimped. Some is ring-crimped and the brass will be impinging on the full circumference of the primer.
Or an older military crimp, usually three indentations spaced around the primer.
Lake City Arsenal (LC) or any other mil contract brass from a commercial loader, or older milsurplus will be crimped. Very little commercial brass is.

                Just look at the headstamp.

Most LC and FC has crimps.

I've heard some Commercial is run on Military lines so is also crimped. I just swage everything.

Note that you can buy Lake City brass, new and unprimed. Obviously, these aren't crimped (since they were never primed to begin with).

I think he means a decrimper Swager!

BTW, inspection of the primer pocket is the only way to know. There is a lot of military brass floating around that has been comercially reloaded and swaged already.

Crimped on the right side, crimp reamed on the left side.
