Are you adjusting the spring loaded arm at station 2? If it is tight against the case, the case won't sit square and the primer won't seat straight into the pocket. If the arm is set too far away from the case, it may not sit directly over the primer. Either situation could cause a detonation.

Another cause could be the case feed slide pushing the case into the shell plate too soon. It can bind the shell plate slightly, not allowing the primer and pocket not to line up.

Are you changing the primer pin from large pistol to small pistol? If the wrong one is in the primer will not line up with the brass and you will detonate it when the primer is smashed against the case.

I have had to adjust timing on my 650 sometimes when I switch calibers. If the timing is off just a little it could be enough to crush a primer. Now when I switch calibers I give the timing a quick check and adjust if necessary. Pretty easy.

Last and most importantly, if it is happening with 9mm, are you sure the primer pocket was not crimped? Some 9mm is crimped and forcing it will easily crush and set off a primer. I did it once (only a single primer ignited lucky) loading 5.56 and now I now what a crimped pocket feels like, it won't happen again.

I've adjusted mine a few times and had to have Dillon send me the tool to center the main platform correctly. It takes some playing with but I've loaded tens of thousands of rounds and never popped a primer. I'd definitely go to Dillon. They may even have you send the press back to them.

Is it crimped? Did you swage it?

What Caliber r u reloading ? Thinking crimped pockets with 9mm or spp on .45 cases. Please clarify what's been happening when this occurs.

But what happened with me was some crud on the primer ram that caused dimpled primers, thankfully none went off. It was some piece of lead that was shaved while seating a bullet and it got on the primer ram, after seeing what it did to my primers I can easily see something getting on it and setting off a primer.
