6.5 Grendel reloading

Sticking with 8208 for now. Got real decent chrony results on 28 gr powder, cci mag primer with 123 gr Amax reloaded hornady original brass. Average of 20 shots was 2353 18 in barreled AR. This isn't even max load but very accurate.

These are Optimal barrel Time (OBT) predictions for loads for Satern 6.5 Grendel II's. The 120-125gr range are right on the money as far as accuracy nodes and velocity. It drifts off a bit perhaps within .5gr for the 130gr range and the 100gr range. Here's a link to the spreadsheet.

The OBT spreasheet is designed for longer throat Grendels like the Grendel II and the 264LBC. Its also designed for 5R rifling. Other shorter throat Grendels like the SAMMI should be fairly close but you'll need to check some of the COAL's.

I used quickload and a process called Optimal Barrel Time (OBT) which times the bullet to exist when the bore is most stable and the shock wave has returned to the receiver and therefore the most accurate load. The 120-125gr range is right on the money in Satern Grendel II's as on the 10th of the grain but drifts off a bit up to the 130gr and down to the 100gr range but it wil still let you know where the most accurate load will most likely be with in .5gr. Yeah, but my rifle likes it. 10 shot group at 100 yds. Shoots great out to 600yds.

I've tried IMR8208XBR, Benchmark, AR Comp, H4895, and Varget. Finally settled on Varget for 123 amax for target plinking and Benchmark for my hunting loads.
