I'm going to start reloading for the 6.5 Grendel and was wondering what powder do you guy like to use. I have looked at the manuals and have seen the listed powders. I'm going to start with the Hornady A-Max 123 gn shooting out of a 20 inch barrel semi-auto. Just wondering what you guy find works the best before I go powder shopping. Thanks for your imput. Any tips or trick to loading the Grendel would be appreciated.

Favorite powder for 6.5 Grendel with 123 A-Max is with AA2520 powder. In my rifle it will duplicate factory velocity and accuracy. Only other powder I've tested is BL-C2 and it does well also. I find it's a better bargain to buy factory 123 A-Max. You get loaded ammo for just a little more than buying new Hornady brass. In my rifle the Hornady factory shoots great. With AA2520 I can compete with the factory loads. I shoot both Hornady and Lapua brass, RP 7 1/2 primers. I actually prefer the Hornady brass even though the Lapua is premium stuff.Comment

We in CA are buying it to reload so we stay off these stupid hit lists that require a back ground check.Favorite powder for 6.5 Grendel with 123 A-Max is with AA2520 powder. Any report of how it has gone, Mike?
I'm newer to the Grendel, but am in love with it.

I like the 8208 XBR. I recently saw that some people are using the Hornady LeverEvolution powder. That would be good for me if it works, as I already use it for my 30-30 and 35 Rem, and I can consolidate powder buys.Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

These are Optimal barrel Time (OBT) predictions for loads for Satern 6.5 Grendel II's. The 120-125gr range are right on the money as far as accuracy nodes and velocity. It drifts off a bit perhaps within .5gr for the 130gr range and the 100gr range. Here's a link to the spreadsheet.
