    Why Dillon?

I think the following is why Dillon, why so many "Blue Kool-Aid" drinkers are out there...

My 550B primer shuttle was starting to stick more than rarely lately. I have had this issue a few times before in the 75K+ rounds I have loaded on my 550B and the answer seemed to be always the same. Replace the bearing plate beneath the primer shuttle. I had done this a few times in the past and it always cleared the issue up.

I called Dillon Last Friday and asked if I could get another bearing plate sent to me? The CS rep looked up my data, asked how many rounds total on the press and then said, "OK, I think I have what you need down, it will go out Monday." Simple enough.

Here is what I asked to be sent to me:

Here is what they sent me:

Complete primer setup, magazine, shuttle for both large and small PP, bearing plate (what I originally called for), primer feed tube tips for both large and small primer tubes!

So when somebody calls me just another "Blue Kool-Aid Drinker", I will respond, "you know it brother!"

I have never had better customer service with any consumer product in my life, period.

Customer service like this is always refreshing. My 550b hasn't needed a thing thus far, but I know I can count on Dillon when the time comes. Go blue!

I'm blue all the way! Best press I own! I use it for single stage press loading precision rounds

There is no better flavor then Blue kool-aid.

Last week I set off a primer on my 1050. Called Dillon, told them what I did, the tech guy ask "Federal primers for a revolver?". My answer was "yes". He laughed and said it happens more than I think. Told me to back off the primer depth an 1/8 of a turn and he would get the parts in the mail that day. 3 days later and 1/8 a turn I was up and running again.

Much more carefully I might add, that BOOOOOOOOOM taught me a lot.

I have been red green and blue. Blue is definitely the way to go. Just wish I started this way and saved myself a lot of money.

That's awesome! Funny as I was reading this post my doorbell rings. I got some blue kool-aid too! Sorry FedEx guy for the bigass box.

Glad to hear about their customer service!

I need to make that call. Recently spoke to them about a sticking primer bar and all i got was advice, it was good advise, but still......
I was setting the primer ram too far into the slider causing the whole assembly to tilt.

I was taking a shortcut many people have suggested, that is , just changing out the ram and cup. That's what started the problem.

I bought an aftermarket part that has a roller bearing on it and the plate is longer so the slide does not tilt backwards when fully extended contributing to the sticking.

I called them a few weeks ago and told them I lost the AC adapter for my Dillon scale. I specifically said that it was MY fault, and they still insisted on sending me a new A/C adapter free of charge.

                  Can't beat their service.

Yeah I never just changed the ram. Truth be told, putting a new bearing plate always fixed it, I got about 20K per plate looking back, almost exactly equally divided between large and small shuttles. I put all the new stuff on and loaded up a few hundred 380 mouse gun loads and a couple hundred 180gr PD FMJ for my G35, man is the new stuff smooth.

Started out reloading years ago on a hand me down Lee loader for 30/06. Then got a rock chucker and just about every other brand of press on the market mainly single stage except for my Dillon SDB until I picked up a coupe Lee progressive presses.

While the Lee's are nice and do get the job done they are far behind Dillons. I liked the Lee loadmaster and Pro1000 but the priming system was just not reliable enough for me. Ya I did the mods and such but it still was not that reliable. I usually hand primed before loading with those presses but they still needed a bit of tweaking here and there at times.

I just picked up a dillon xl650 a little bit ago and should have done it sooner but wanted to give others a try out....

Dillons just work no messing around just set the dies and powder drop and start loading.

I want to pick up another xl650 soon but I'm in no hurry as I'm still getting this one all setup with extras. Getting the case feed next and then the trimmer. After that I will work on a second one

I think most people come to Dillon the same way, experience.

In the end, we all evolve and learn. Looking back on it, I should have bought a 650 when I bought the 550B. I have over 75k on my 550B (actually a lot more than that, I just quit counting a while back). The 650 would have saved me half the time I have spent loading pistol calibers. When you get to a certain age, you realize time is the most valuable currency.

I had the power supply fail on my 20 year old Dillon Rapid Trim and called the techs to explain the issue. Instead of sending a new power supply they sent a new Rapid Trim unit complete with power supply.
