    Another LabRadar convert

I only have 40 rounds on it, but I'm already convinced it's far better than the Shooting Chrony. Quick to setup, intuitive to use (albeit with a couple of minor menu quirks that are cleared up by reading the manual), and error free.

I suggest just making your own bench mount. You can do it for under $10 if you already have a tripod head to put on it.

I am glad to see this review. I did want one of these but I am heading towards the G2 Ballistic Chrony from Caldwell at about 1/3rd the price. If I could just get my hands on one, that would be great.

What does the outlook look like for these things syncing up to a smart phone controller with BT in the future?

Love to see what happens with a line full of shooters. I'm curious about the false positives. I run a chrony for pistols and magnetospeed for rifles. The magnetospeed can't do my 338 LM because of the brake size on my older unit so this looks like it would replace both of my chronographs. Keep us posted.

Nice review. Any idea if it works indoors? I picked up a magnetospeed to enable load dev work at an indoor range, and I'm curious as to whether or not the Doppler RADAR has any range constraints.

For example would it work with a pellet gun in a garage with the door closed? etc.

This device does not pick up false positives or other shooters shots if operated correctly and per clear instructions.

Getting any other chronograph type device is a waste of money and lots of time at this point.

It looks like it is set up for blue tooth compatability, but after using it quite a bit, I do not see any benefit to adding BT. It is not needed and I do not see how it would be helpful, other than sending data straight to your phone.

It has a special low power setting for short range targets.

It will not work with airguns or arrows unless you get the special release trigger for archery and airguns (40 bucks) since the Labradar is normally sound actuated.

It false triggered this past weekend with shooters on the line. I ended up just dialing down the sensitivity one notch down and that resolved it (I had on level 1, which is the highest sensitivity).

So it costs 500 and it does its job so good it wants to check EVERYONE.

That is great. Let it go all the way and see how many people and how far out it will detect.

Hell, there might even be a way to mount one of these to the roof of your house and hack it to be a shot detector... I can totally see an AP for that... Pair it up with some XI charging...

Does it have to be mounted or can it stand on its own? Does it have to be so close to the gun?

It needs to be mounted. It has a standard 1/4"-20 thread (standard camera thread for tripods). Use a tripod or a bench mount (sold by LabRadar, or make your own like I did). You don't have to run the rifle that close. I think they advise at least 18" away from the unit, though.

I use a mini manfrotto tripod that I picked up from best buy. Works great.

                      Love mine also.
