For magnum pistol reloads using Bullseye...the error margin is the square root of zero.

No one likes Bullseye more than me. I still use it with 45acp, 9mm, 38 Especial and 380acp.

You know what SUCKS about this?

I contacted Alliant about this and they were like- What? I asked them what the cutoff weights were in using BD in .357 mag and they said they only tested it in 125gr and that is a nogo. So I said yeah but is that only for .357 mag? What if I run BD in a 9mm with a 120gr pill? What if I run a 148gr pill in .357? How about a 115gr or a 105gr in .357, What is the cutoff weight? They responded- We only tested 125gr...

YEAH NO ****! BUT DON'T TELL ME THAT 126GR and 124GR ARE PERFECTLY SAFE TO SHOOT!

They must have done ZERO followups! I would think that in order to be safe, they would have checked the pressures and all in all surrounding weights and put out something more for those that gotta know.

Nope... I guess not. Damn hippies...

I believe a lot of this kind of thing is more related to the test equipment they use today, than any real world risk to the user. When you switch from crushing copper, to strain gauges, you probably see a lot that was missed in the old setups. As the test equipment gets more sensitive (and the lawyers get more influence), the real world experience of reloading gets more safety margin.

I have loaded tons of BD (well lots and lots of pounds anyway) and while it has never been the most consistent burner, regardless of load density, I have never had a twilight zone experience.

The old timers noted these kinds of "outlier" experiences with some of the most tried and true of today's powders. 2400 was one, some of the most experienced reloader's of it in the magnum revolver calibers felt it was a squirrely powder with some bullet weights and load densities.

In the end, I think when a ballistician sees something go outside their comfort zone (a zone the manufacturers clearly keep moving the goal posts on), it gets a no go label (hence the choice maybe to remove the Bullseye loads for 357M). Does it mean you are going to break a gun with it?, I just have a hard time believing this part, the safety margins are just too big with modern guns.

It wasn't so much a pressure related as it had something to do with the length of the 125 bullet, forcing cone, and stuff like that. They list loads for all other bullet weights so it can't be an issue with the weight. 110's and 140's are ok.

It's funny because I've used blue dot a long time and with 125's, a long time back. Never has an issue. Maybe I was lucky

I also think it was more along the lines of shorter barrel revolvers and trying to squeeze a higher velocity round out of the shorter barrel.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

Yeah I do not know. And I do not want to be the idiot that does do something stupid on purpose for the sake of making a youtube video and what kind of an idiot to NOT be and then I am done shooting, walking, reloading and pretty much gotta talk outta a tube in my throat for the rest of my life.

It was said that Thou Shalt NEVER use thine Blue Dot in thine .357 magnum with 125gr pills. And though shalt NEVER use Blue Dot for ANYTHING in .41 magnum...

But, but, but my Blue Dot brings all the girls to the yard...

I get the shifty goal posts and comfort zones portions. Soon everything will be a mid load with no wiggle room thanks to the lawyers and the govt.

We might as well buy BE now... H-110 in .44 mag? ONLY at 23.42gr and ONLY with 240gr pills, NOTHING ELSE!

              I'm for 2400 in 357 cases , as I do lots of 44,mag reloaded with 2400,
bullseye is good for accurate 38 loads no doubt

What he said. Try using some unique or be 86 for puff loads and 2400 or Accurate # 9 for full loads
