    Need a part for a Lee Auto-Prime

Just got some Reloading items in a box for a Good Deal Price

Scored an older Lee Auto Prime // Round plastic trays
Large and small primer round trays

The only thing missing is the Connector rod that lifts the primer rod up when handle squeezed

The new style will not fit / Looked it up already
Anyone had a source for parts ???

    Maybe e-bay.
Everyone who owns them needs that part and the handle sooner or later. They were poorly made and go bad after enough use.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

Go straight to Lee Precision, they will have parts and refurbish all older items for short change.

No, send them your old one, they will send a new one for a fee. I have a new model and it sucks. Especially for small primers. I get a lot of flipped over small primers with it. The lid always slips so I ran it with a heavy rubber band holding the lid down until I finally got tired of it and switched to a RCBS priming tool.

                Those are antiques.

Get rid of them to those that have them or look for some on Fleabay. I think they might have stopped making that style, but you could also ask Lee. They might have a part to send to you, but something tells me you got a 31% chance of that happening. Lee, being as cheap as they are (and I mean that in a good way) probably did not have 3 million of them on hand, but maybe more like 200 on hand and I bet they have finally sold them off to other folks.

Hey though, what is stopping you from making one out of plastic, wood, or metal? They are not that hard, mic out the hole, have a machine shop fab one out... :\

When you get it, take it to a machine shop and ask how much for them to dupe it for you. Then you can have extras and love them long time.

That is nice of Mr. Guffey...

Heh, I sold or gave mine away to someone last year or the year before that.

It is always cool to find reloading stuff on the cheap.

I too was looking at spare parts for a Lee purchase someday. The spare Lee part I decided to buy is a Redding T7.

When I first saw the Lee hand primers at a reloading clinic (I think that was where I saw them) I thought they were really cool. Then I heard about some jackass blowing himself up with the old style and that forced Lee to change their design to make them "SAFER" and then they did not work as well.

So I started looking around because I wanted a cool one but not like the Lee since they unofficially sucked.

That lead me to the RCBS Universal APS system.

The sucky part is putting the primers into the strips, and that is only a gripe. When it comes to actually priming cases, WOW those things are fast. I think I was up to priming 25 cases in about 15-17 seconds. I could be wrong on the time but I know priming cases is a very fast operation on those. Everything is controlled. Unlike 95% of all of the other case primers out there where you have to hold it at a certain angle, the RCBS universal is magazine fed (strips actually) so any angle still pulls the primers through and the universal springs will lock onto all shells so far. I really like it.

But Glad you got that fixed. Those older style Lees were nice and when I got to use them I really enjoyed them.

I agree. I really like my RCBS Universal hand primer.

I have the universal hand primer that has the flat hopper like the Lee, but the APS is faster and more reliable. During the last primer drought, a lot of times CCI APS primers were the only ones in stock, if slightly a little more money.
