Is reloading in a garage a bad idea?

It appears that many of the reloading bench pics I see are in some type of spare room. Would setting up a reloading station in my garage be ok? I could set one up in my office but don't think my wife would like it much.

I guess it would be nicer to have heat and air in the office...

Nope, the garage is "My Man Cave". Just about all the people that I know that reload and have a garage, use the garage for their reloading hobby. Plus using the Tumbler indoors (inside the house) is a bad idea.

My setup is in the garage. I love it, but it gets pretty hot in the summer and it's pretty damn cold right now.

The two things you have to watch out for are your equipment and your components. Presses and dies can get a patina of rust, so you should keep them clean and coat them with a little oil once in a while. Primers and Powder should be kept at a relatively cool temperature. I store mine in a bin on the floor and against a retaining wall. They always remain less than 68 degrees, even in mid-summer.

I'd bet most setups you've seen are folks that are living in condos or apartments, who lack garages or space in them. Or youts with empty bedrooms. Or folks in much colder climates who set up indoors because of the weather. Or folks with basements.

I live in a mild climate. And I'd much rather have all that combustible powder and primer storage in a less flammable environment.

Same setup and conditions here, but I'm only 15 minutes north of you, so what would you expect..

Thanks, I will be building a bench this weekend... I have a nice crawl space under my house, accessed via the garage, to store ammo and supplies.

I will be looking into insulation for the garage door, it radiates a lot of heat on warm days.

Funny, my wife will probably be taking her dining room table during our pending divorce. All I will have to eat off is my 4' x 8' reloading bench. At least, I'll be able to move if from the garage to inside the house.

I reloaded in the garage for many years until my oldest moved out . . . then I confiscated his BR and declared it a man cave. Now I have a dedicated climate controlled gun room complete with cable TV.

Exactly.
When I bought my place, one requirement was to have an extra bedroom as my gun room.
