Now if (God forbid!!!) Hillary Clinton gets elected in November, try and find any ammo in stock. When you do, it'll cost significantly more than you just paid.

And soon enough you won't be able to "make it arrive at your doorstep" here in California. Same for components, but I can stock up now and get easily twice as much on hand for the same money.

I stock up on powder and primers and I'm good for years. Costs me less than $.12/round to make it. My time is mine, so I don't add this into the equation, but for the sake of argument, if it cost me more than say 85% of finished ammo cost to make it, I'd buy ammo instead of powder and primers. But 50% savings makes sense to spend an hour or two, a few times per week to have a constant supply of ammo. Go through 5,000-10,000 rounds each year and it makes even more sense.

Cracks me up when people say time is money for anything gun related.

Time is only money when you would otherwise be trading your time for money.

Time is money? Im a plumber, rates of 250 minimum 145/hour. Yes my time is valuable but i dont see taking the time spent in reloading. I like it rather enjoy reloading. If i calculated the cost of picking, cleaning, tumbling, reloading it would cost far more than factory ammo.
My ammo is however, some of the best shooting ammo for my guns. Jmho and of course ymmv.
          Never enough reloading stuff

In terms of time ... I've found that often time is precious. I might have just a bit of time between kids going to bed and cleaning up and being really tired.

I invested in a used 1050 and a used KISS bullet feeder.

I timed myself reloading 9mm, including looking into the cases to confirm charge and it was 6 minutes for 100 rounds. I had preloaded the primer tubes.

So yeah, a 1050 and bullet feeder is pricy, but timewise, it's awesome.

I do have two 550b presses which take more time, and you know, after 20 years, I'm pretty good at loading at a reasonable rate while keeping an eye on powder charges (to avoid squibs and double loads), but for 9mm, everything comes to a grinding halt when you hit a stupid Nato/crimped round (primer is crimped in) so the 1050 solves that.

Maybe time is money, maybe it's not. I enjoy reloading so I don't mind the time to do it, but I often don't have that time. And sometimes, I just want to crank out a months worth or more of ammo and be done with it.

Of course at 145/hour ... you'd be foolish to not go to a job to reload instead. But you're not. You're reloading on your "free" time, after work, where nobody is paying you.

My friend used to say that all the time "I make 100/hour, doing X is costing me money", my reply was "Really? Who's paying you to watch TV instead of doing X?"

                Yeah,

Where I live we are driving distance to the casinos in Reno and South Lake Tahoe. I finally got tired of the BS I would hear at work. You know the guy, we all know "the guy". He is the one that says,

"Oh yeah, I win $1000 every time I go to Reno."

I asked him at a meeting, "Why are you working here and not going to Reno every day?"

End of BS from "the guy."

                Don't be that guy.

                  Thanks everyone!
I don't know if it is the right thing to do, but I am going to hold off on all of this and use my "discretionary" funds to put more money towards paying off my credit card/car.

                    Damn,

                    All that typin' for nuthin'.

Should we count all of our time spent responding as lost income, better spent on factory ammo?

There's one less person buying reloading components now and I'm sure some lurkers have also been discouraged. So we saved some powder and primers from being hoarded.

I think it was time well spent.
