    Reloading 50ae.

I got some berrys 350gr bullets for the s&w 500 and want to load them for the 50ae also. I'm using win 296 has anyone else used these bullets and powder for the 50ae?

350 seems heavy but what do I know. Loading for a Deagle? If so you might be stuck to around 1.600 OAL. Will a 350gr fit inside that length or will you have to drop to the 325 or 300gr projectiles?

I could be wrong, but the .44 mag topped out around 1.600 for fitting inside the mags. You MIGHT be able to go to 1.610 but do not quote me on that. Certainly though it needs to be made on a single stage or turret and not a progressive for variation of COAL when you get that far out.

I have no way of safely shooting a 50 AE round currently but when I was looking, I saw the AA 1680 powder seemed best. H-110 was there too but I did not have much on hand at the time so I did not want to make any and waste it when I could make it for my regular .44 mag loads (23.7gr in H-110 + 240gr FPRN:1.600 COAL).

The recipe on the H110 container is 32.5 gr and a 325 gr Spr hp, 1.575 COL at 1431fps.

Supposedly 296 and H110 are the same but my medical deductible is too high to fool around anymore.

Most 50ae. load data stops at 325 gr.....

Aside from the COAL issue I've never had good luck using plated bullets with my Desert Eagles.

Seems the plating starts to melt before getting out of the barrel which then jams up the gas system.

That's been my experience. I have to shoot jacketed bullets.

I have NSAIDS in my bloodstream right now so I tell you what.

          You are doing it wrong.

I run Power Bond 240gr HP or Xtreme 240gr RNFP in .44 mag with my Deagle and I run .44 mag mixed brass with 19-21gr of Enforcer, or 23.5-23.9gr of H-110 or 14.7gr of Blue Dot.

I have no issues EXCEPT once in a while the bird kisses me with shrapnel in the face (blood usually follows).

Let's talk about the gas port. It is NO WAIT. My meter is moving here...

How do you know it is the plating that jams up the gas port?

            It's a 50ae question.

Aside from that, he's never jammed up the gas port. I know it and you know it.

He'd be *****ing about the turnaround time between here and MN.

Ahh come on now... I was all done prettying up the punjis and covering everything all nice and neat like and just getting ready to sit and watch the tiger get caught and you walked by and threw a yellow dog into the trap... :\

              Sigh...

Ya know, I hav a 287gr HP for 50 AE that drops at .493. I was gonna have it sent in to get reworked to proper size and make the HP bigger too... I wonder how those will fly when PCd and developed.

              party pooper...
