I prefer Xtreme over Berry's. But if I had to buy berry's then I would buy it straight from them and look for a promo code if there are any available.


Have you ever considered casting? Better yet, for plinking around, maybe consider a 185gr or 200gr instead of a 230?

The only time I've seen 500 count boxes of Berry's 230 gr RN in Northern California was at the Solano County Crossroads show. If memory serves correct, they were $55.

yeah, it looks like the xtreme bullets would be a better buy. I haven't tried any 200gr swc's, only 230gr LRN thru my 1911. But, I may just give those 200gr swc's a try. Thanks.

I don't shoot .45ACP, but in 9mm plated Berry's isn't as reasonably priced compared to other options like X-treme on sale... or RMR sales (that you might have to sort), and I have shaved way more copper off of Berry's than others.

I cast the Lee 200gr TL SWC and it looks a little funny, and a little nubbin, but it is a laser on the range. I have a 6 cavity Lee mold that allows me to cast a little 50-60 a minute depending on how fast I am trying to be and after a pile is made they get powder coated and sized to .451 and stored. The 1911s go nuts for them...

Called Philipp's Wholesale, they have the X-treme's in stock. Heading that way after lunch. Same price as from X-treme and I'll have 'em today. Neat!

I cast the Lee 200gr TL SWC and it looks a little funny, and a little nubbin, but it is a laser on the range. I have a 6 cavity Lee mold that allows me to cast a little 50-60 a minute depending on how fast I am trying to be and after a pile is made they get powder coated and sized to .451 and stored. The 1911s go nuts for them...

60 a minute is one pour every 6 seconds.

move mold under pot
pour lead
fill all six cavities
remove mold
allow sprue to cool
break sprue
put sprue somewhere
open mold halves
let bullets fall onto pile
close mold
close sprue plate.

I don't think I can even fill my lee 6 cavs in 6 seconds. Hat's off to you sir.

My apologies. It takes me about 10-15 seconds per pour. I did the math afterwards but did not correct it back here.

but at 6 cavity that means 6 every 10 seconds = 60. I do not think that I have actually hit 60 in a minute, but I have hit around 10-15 seconds per pour. Which would make it closer to about 24+ per minute. Sorry for the confusion.

1 pour = 6 boolits.

I have used both and like the xtreme bullet much better. I have had berry's wrinkle the plating when crimping, and I crimp just enough to straighten out the case bell. For me the xtreme allows a minimum of belling.
