Thanks guys. I'll give it a try. Dwalker you're right at max with your loads, do you notice any over pressure signs?

No pressure signs at all. I could probably go hotter but no need as accuracy is where I need it to be.
As an aside, I also shoot CFE 223 in my rifle and while they list the max at something like 26gr, my most accurate loads are at 27.5 with NO pressure sign at all and its the load I use for 3-gun with almost no recoil. I really believe the load data for the CFE powders is not only conservative but may not have been developed using auto pistols and rifles.

That's pretty close to my recipe.

Went to the range yesterday and chronoed my 1911Springfield 9mm. Loaded Berry's plated FP with WST 4.5 with OAL of 1.100, results were in the low 1047 and high of 1067, 130pf easily.Feels like you are cheating. Been shooting major in USPSA Single stack 45acp 200 g lead, then switching to this feels like nothing. 😁😊👍

I have switched my competition load to:

              124gr Xtreme FP
3.5gr Alliant E3- this is a shotgun powder and there is NO official pistol load information out there, however it shoots soft and clean

              124Gr Xtreme FP
              4.8gr CFEPistol
I backed the charge down on this load to get it to be a little softer shooting while maintaining accuracy, and this is the best compromise.

My competition loads have been 3.8g CFE pistol, 147g Extreme or Berry's plated RN. This gets me around 860-870fps on my chrono in a 5" barrel to meet PF floor in ESP. I use this for practice and shooting local matches.

I'm shooting xtreme 147 gr with 3.2 gr of titegroup at 130 power factor. Functions fine in my G34.

It really isn't. There's a thought that generally loading 10pts over the pf floor is a min to ensure the ammo will chrono in spec. If you load to 125pf and your es is 0 then you're golden. But is that possible, no.

Have to account physical and environmental variances. The guns bore (no two barrels of the same make/model shoot the same, not to mention effects of wear), temperature (231 is temp sensitive as temp drops so does mv; other powders are inverse so when temp drops the mv rises), altitude, humidity, position sensitivity (how the powder sits in the case affects ballistics)....and more. Giving some headroom in pf will help to accommodate these changes and keep a shooter from failing chrono testing at match.

Load a batch and chrono some now in the wet/cold weather and then chrono some later in dry July heat and see what happens.

Most uspsa shooters end up with minor loads running in the 130's.

13# is light. Shoot some light bullets ~95-105 grains.

can I make minor loads with 115 grain? if so what do you recommend on grain of titegroup? I just bought 4k 115 grain bullets.

Different gun/barrel can make a big difference.
Same load from my PPQ is 90fps faster than when shot from my kids M9. 1125 vs 1035.

I'd use a different powder for 115gr and minor. Titegroup is not so good for light projos, go with something slower burning. For the game the general thought is heavy bullet with fast powder. If you have titegroup then you're set. Just get a hold of 147gr projos. That combo is pretty solid.

What gun you using? If you're using a long slide then it's going to be mellower to make pf. If you're running a compact like a g19 or something <5" then you're going to have to load some big boomers to make pf.

1911 loaded target 9mm. I participate in local steel matches, practical pistol stuff. Would like to put light recoil springs and minor 9mm loads for quicker on target shots like double taps.

If you look at the Hodgdon site you'll find 115gr loads for a starting point, but the velocities shown at max loads wouldn't give you any margin above 130PF. The VV powders show velocities above 1200 FPS at max. charges, but the recoil will be greater than a heavy bullet at minor PF. For example, 4.7gr N340 behind 147gr coated is a very soft load in an SA 9mm 1911.
