Quickload has libraries of handgun and rifle cartridge cases, bullets and powders.
It lets you model the powder burn.
From modeling the powder burn, you can figure out how fast a bullet is moving when it leaves the barrel.
You can also figure out how long it takes for the bullet to leave the barrel.

Or is the computer modeling so accurate that they don't need to do that?
Most people using quickload will use it to SELECT components and then they will assemble ammo to test with.
The program is as accurate as the input you give it.
The old computer adage "garbage in-garbage out" certainly applies here!

I have been able to get Quickload results to within 0.1% of my actual velocity measurements at the range during live fire after accounting for all the variables.

There are no shotgun cartridges or components modeled in Quickload.

      Mr. Rausch

Thank you for the in-depth response. So you use it to prepare loads and then test to see how your prepared loads compare to the QL information. It sounds very detailed. Excellent.

      Thank you

It is not 100% accurate. The pressure spec for 10mm and 30 carbine set in the program is way off. I think 10mm was set to 100K pressure. Instant kaboom.

I have the program and like it, but it doesn't include a lot of powders.

Both the 10mm Auto (SAAMI and CIP) are around 33k psi now.
30 carbine is listed at 46k.

As you should know, having used the program, you can set those pressures to anything YOU want while using the program.

              It's not necessary.
The bullets are in the data file.
You can manually move the data files too...

I hear you. I found my "RELOADERS REFERENCE" but it is not that big, only about 50+ MB, but I did not see the files in it. I remember it was bigger...
