Hi-Tek/Poly coated bullets & Desert Eagle

Just wondering, as I have never tried hi-tek/polymer coated bullets , nor do I own or have I ever shot a Desert Eagle. But will such a setup work for the Deagle's gas system? The purpose is to see if it's possible to reload for the Deagle in a more economical way (44 magnum unfortunately, not 50 AE, unless someone knows a source of 50 AE hi-tek projectiles for cheap)?

Roll ur own, cast and powder coat them. I'm sure they will work fine.

You do not need to worry about the GAS system in a Deagle. As long as you use magnum powders (Blue Dot, H-110, 2400, AA#7, Enforcer, VV-something, I have it but did not use it, Lil Gun, Win-296, 300-MP, the list goes on...) your action WILL cycle just fine. I have loaded and shot over 8k rds through mine.

Some folks swear by 2400, I have a bottle but never used it. I do not care to use it, Those other folks that swear by it might find me among them if I did use it, but until then, I will stick with my H-110.

The problem arises when you start casting for the Deagle. I have heard that a few folks had their Deagle shoot hard cast lead just fine...

But I have also seen that MRI states to use fully sealed J-words otherwise known as TMJ I think. I have shot plenty of FMJ with no issues and I tend to shoot only plated rounds. Apparently there is some mystery about the lead plugging up the gas system. Once you do that it is easier to go and get a new barrel then to try to unplug your gas system- FWIH. I have not tested this and I was not going to test it until I got employed perm FT.

There was a .50 AE barrel on GB that was selling for $89 and it was sold as a paperweight because that guy somehow managed to plug up his gas system.

I am wondering if my gas system would get fouled up with PC or not. Until I have a second barrel to test it on, I do not want to try it out. I will simply keep shooting plated, but LTFO if I get employed full time soon. I will get back into full blown weapon testing and technical document creation in regards to the reloading and other processes. Anyways...

Thx for the info stilly. If I ever plan on getting that deagle, indeed one of the the things I'd be worried about is plugging up the gas system. Which is why I would not want to try hard cast, even if some other folks are brave enough to try so. Hence why I asked about hitek coating (and shouldn't hitek/poly be a little different than your typical moly/powder coat?).

I was pondering about plated Xtreme, but worried about the plating not surviving 1200+ fps, or light -crimp bullet set back. Seems like you have had good success with it though. How hard you push those plated bullets?

Hi-tek, Enamel, PC I had wondered about the bullet shaving off as it travels down the barrel, but why not copper plating then? I can maybe see if there is bullet lube from cast bullets that shave off, but PC is supposed to be strong and hold on.

I think it is probably okay to shoot those types of pills through the barrel, but better watch it for sure.

I do NOT know the velocity, but when I had my Enforcer (21gr) that was a hotter load and it had turned the gun into a shot-gun. I fired and noticed that there was shrapnel in the target. I made a you-tube about it...
