    Reloading starter kit.

So I'm looking for some info. I think I've decided on the RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Master Reloading Kit. But I'm wondering what other pieces of equipment I'll need to get right away?

    Brass tumbler, trimer, calipers, and???

    Reloading books!
crushed walnut or corn for your tumbler
you can get by with the kit's balance scale but I prefer a digital scale
a kinetic bullet puller (for the inevitable mistakes)
and of course dies, shell holder, projectiles, brass, powder, primers.

There's plenty of other stuff one can get for convenience sake, but I suggest keeping it down to this until you decide what task you really want to speed up.

RCBS has this press mount, it's essentially a fancy aluminum plate. Unless you have a very sturdy work table, I suggest you get it. It's very good at distributing stress.

Reloading books before you drop a dime on anything else. Read them and know all that's involved.

Most of the reloading kits will, get you by but before long you won't want to use half of the stuff in those kits. Most presses(especially the rockchucker) are built like tanks. You can save a lot by buying used from someone who found out reloading wasn't for them.

To answer your questions better, what calibers are you looking to reload?

If the stickies and search were used, we would run out of things to post about.

thanks for the quick responses guys. I was more wondering about the quality of this set and if it will fully get me started. after reading some more on other sites and viewing these post I see that it will other than a few odds and ends. I have helped reload on a progressive and a songle stage a few times so I hive am idea about what i'm getting myself into.
              Thanks again.

If you've reloaded on a single stage and progressive - you should be good with the Rock Chucker setup. I might compare the "kit" price with componenets, and save a couple $ skipping the bits you don't need or get a less $ non-RCBS version (like the loading blocks and other misc). Then use that $ towards a nicer scale, calipers, and tumbler.

Definitely recommend a good set of digital calipers, and digital scale (sooo much faster than beam scale).

I'd download the manufacturers load data (print it or save it somewhere to reference), and get at least one of the major books. A subscription to loaddata.com is nice, but about the cost of one book.

                GL!

Been reloading with a rock chucker for atleast 17 years and it has been a good loader.

I bought mine as a kit which came with just about everything to get started.I had to get a tumbler, dies, calipers and i was off.

I then got a dillion sdb for my .45 yes its fast but a mistake along the way can make things a pain. What i like about the rcbs is that i can see and inspect at every step.As for the beam scale it has been great to me i use it to get my powder charges set and will check like every 30 rounds.
