    Additive walnut media

I've been using Brasso what other options to add to my media that might be better.

Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

I've never used Brasso, it contains ammonia.

I was told by a chemist that ammonia has adverse long term effects to brass alloys. Something to do with making them brittle.

Polishing additives for media, made specifically for case tumblers. Such as Flitz and Turbo Brite, contain NO ammonia.

I use NuFinish car Polish thinned out with 50% alcohol (99% rubbing alcohol). This helps to keep it from clumping. I only add some additive every 3 to 5 loads. 1 cap full.

Nufinish and mineral spirits. Brasso has ammonia. That's a no no.

+10 ammonia causes embrittlement and leads to case splitting and in extreme cases head seperation.
A bottle of NuFinish will last for years.

I've been using nu-finish with good results. Has anyone given any thought about adding adding a little hoppy's #9 to the mix? That came to me in the middle of the night awhile back, but I haven't tried it....

Tumbling media polish from CH4D -

Add 1 ounce to your crushed walnut and you are good to go especially for the dirty and tarnished once fired brass in 5.56 or 7.62.

I add a bit of Turtle Wax polishing compound occassionally. I already had it. Seems to work as good or better as stuff i got from Midway years ago.
