Reloading components in San Diego area?

What reloading components are you looking for?Originally posted by tankermanI think most folks bubba their AR's because they watch too many action movies, play too many video games and don't understand how to socialize properly, so they fantasize about being 'action hero's'. Kind of like little girls playing dress-up.Originally posted by Douglas711Is everybody stocking up on guys now? Just curious some gun prices seem to be getting high. -

Stan, your best bet would be ordering that stuff from an online source. It will be cheaper than getting it from a local store. Plus most of the local stores here in San Diego have a very limited selection of supplies and they tend to charge an arm and a leg. I would strongly discourage you from buying that stuff from a local store.

Ditto on what USN Chief said about El Cajon Gun Exchange. I had a REALLY bad experience with one particular guy (I think he is one of the owners!). I had cash in hand ready to deal! I won't set foot in that store EVER!!!
San Diego County Fire Marshall and Sheriff make it tough for anybody to stock much in the way of gunpowder or primers. I think Fire Marshall limits are 20-30 lbs total in the business. Sheriff keeps log of all who buy gunpowder. In other words your gunpowder is registered with the Sheriff.
PM and I'll tell you where to get powder and a reasonable price. Order other stuff through the mail. There is a cast bullet supplier close to QualComm stadium that retails lead bullets.

The El Cajon Gun Exchange is not a very good place unless you are in dire need of something that no one else has.
I too have had bad experiences there, but I continue to check the place out, you just never know when a deal may show up.
I do most of my buying online and accept that the hazmat fee is just a part of doing business. That said, I try to buy as much at a time that I can to help cut the cost.
I have seen some group buys here on and off, you may want to try and join in one of those. Trouble is, they don't occur very often and unless you are on here daily, you may miss out.Comment

You could always start your own group buy. I got some stuff that way from a GB Jicko did this year. It's nice to split the hazmat up between folks.
Even if you don't do a GB, a large quantity order from powder valley will take care of your needs for a good long time, with minimal cost compared to local places (my primers are less than 2c, compared with over 3c at Turners). If you need something in a hurry, Turners in Kearny Mesa is not bad, but it's not great either. They have a few powders, a few primers, and a few bullets. It's probably the closest place to you, though, that has components, plus a handful of RCBS reloading tools.
Tire shops around here are not giving up the lead weights anymore (I have one source, but I'll be damned if I give it up!).Comment

What we should do is a create a "group buy" list that has everyones name on it who is even remotest interested in buying components so that when we do we can see if anyone wants to get in on the action. Please visit my firearms training website at http://www.stcrispian.comComment

Stan, you can put me in that group buy list.Originally posted by tankermanI think most folks bubba their AR's because they watch too many action movies, play too many video games and don't understand how to socialize properly, so they fantasize about being 'action hero's'. You know, the older guy with the white hair (Don't know his name), he is the one I was very frustrated with. When I was going to start my reloading hobby, I was going to buy all my gear from them. I went in to get a demo on the Dillon that they have set up for demos, and I was just ignored, after waiting for about 50 minutes I decided to leave and not buy ****. I was in my Chief Khaki Uniform and felt very bad because there were hardly any customers there so I left.
Back in October of this year I went there again to buy some media, I asked for 10lbs of cob corn media, the same guy looked at me like I was ****ing crazy, he then asked what I wanted it for... LOL. I told him that I needed to clean some once fired brass. He then asked me how much brass I was planning on cleaning, he caught me off guard by asking me that, I then told him I was planning of cleaning approximately 4k pieces of once fired brass of different calibers, he then proceeded to ask the other guy by the gun counter how much media I would need in order to clean 4k pieces of brass, I was like WTF?
I did not hear what the guy behind the counter told him but they started laughing. He then asked me what kind of tumbler I was using, all in a semi rude manner. At that point I told him to just give me 10lbs of media and then he asked me again if I was sure.
Then an old man with a cane that could hardly walk walked into the store with a gun that he wanted to sell, the gun was in a case and the same guy that was helping me nearly had a cow because the old guy failed to stop at the front counter to get a ticket and declare the gun. He was told to go back to the front counter and report the gun, well, the old guy did not understand what they asked him to do and he walked out to his car, at this point that same dude that was helping me said that if the same guy came back in with the gun and did not check with the front register that he was going to tackle him and take the gun away from him
I really felt like cussing the **** out of him but I really needed the Media

I'd be in for a group buy on primers. I shoot CCI BR2 and BR4, can't find them on shelf in SD and don't want to pay the haz mat fees.
Alonzo Mejia from AM Precision and Red Line Ballistics is on Fairmont ave and will give you a fair price on anything he has in stock. His shop number is 280-9763When the battle drum beats, it is too late to sharpen your sword."
