Damaged Reloading Package from Midwayusa

I actually emailed Shane at Rainier Ballistics about this because I've had several shipments from Midway where the Rainier box blew open. I mostly blamed the lousy job Midway did with packaging, but really thought that Rainier needed to know about it for their own benefit. Shane really appreciated the feedback and said they'd look into improving the box strength. The last shipment I got was the same Rainier box, but reinforced on the outside with some strong packaging tape.

I would suggest emailing Shane and sending him a photo.

I've complained to Midway each time, but they haven't improved their packaging. I end up getting a few bucks credit as an apology, but I'd rather they fix the issue. I don't really like the idea of the UPS guy going to pick up the box and one day having bullets flying all over the place.

Part of your gripe should be focused at Rainier. Their bullets are not as well packaged as Xtreme. Have gotten their stuff with bullets coming out of the box a couple of times. In those cases the shipment was well packaged and had no damage to the box. Midway should take care of you though....good people to deal with./

It's UPS, they know bad packaging and exploit it.

Packages get put into 6 foot cages and when you hook 4 of them together you have a train.
There is a machine that grabs the cages lifts them up and flips them over onto a conveyor.
If you figure 6-8 packages deep at up to 70 pounds each you get the idea of how your supposed to package things.
Problem is most people think your package is only handled by humans and is treated like it contains raw eggs.
Reality is your package is always on the bottom with 400 pounds of other packages on it and the corner of a well done package will pierce your sloppily done package.

Same thing happened to me a few days ago. I ordered 800 bulk packed Hornady 178 BTHP bullets. They were in a small box inside a big box. Small box got battered, split open and scattered the contents into the big box. Very similar to O/P's photo.

Outer box stayed intact so no loss of contents, but a very bad packaging job.
