New to reloading #2 .... should I or shouldnt I

Im hoping to start reloading soon so Ive been buying some components. I recently bought some 9mm bullets from xtremebullts and while I was at it I figured I would also buy some new brass from them since Im not paying for shipping. Although I have a once fired brass, I figured I would practice reloading using new brass to eliminate unnecessary errors since it is my first time reloading.

The order has arrived and Ive noticed the brass has a inner lining inside the brass (at its base). Im no expert but Im assuming this will increase the pressure so I shouldnt use the same recipe I would use on other 9mm brass.

So for a new reloader, do you guys suggest I put this brass aside and use my once fired brass that dont have the inner lining or go forward with the xtremebullets brass. If you suggest I use the extreme brass, should I be taking any extra precautions like starting below the suggested starting grains in the handbooks?

It's worthless. Send them all to me. I'll dispose of properly!!

Nothing at all to worry about. Remember that many 9's have unsupported chambers or maybe a better description is that the brass isn't always completely enclosed by the barrel/chamber.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

I have no problems with inner lines . but I usually toss those brass .. because the ones i inspect has deform inner primer pocket hole . I guess when firing , small hole inside of the primer pocket flares out , so using primer pocket cleaning tool doesnt even contact the area .

I think OP is yanking our chain. Troll thread...

OP MUST be a troll because EVERYONE knows that THAT brass is not only extreme garbage, but garbage that splits or gives a case head separation about 1 in 5 shots...

I just checked right now. I called my grandma and asked her what she thought about that brass and even SHE said it was garbage and she knows nothing about reloading...

I don't see any "inner lining"...

If you want brand new brass, buy some from Starline and get with it.

I try to avoid those brass. Not sure why this kind even came to be, really. Definitely more susceptible to case head separation or splitting like Stilly said, due to the uneven expansion(it all happens at the end of the brass). I set them aside when I see them. Sometimes when I get a bunch built up I'll batch process them, shoot them at the range, and wont bother picking them up.

And I load them with the same charge as I would any other "regular" case and don't notice them being any hotter. If you measured the pressure I'm sure it would be a bit higher but the felt recoil is the same to me. So I just load em the same..

They are fine. I reload them all the time and I've never had a problem, some I've even loaded 3 times.

Buy new 9mm? Never needed to. Waste of money. Same with 45ACP. I get lots of it from the range also the worthless 40S&W stuff. I give that to friends who have not figured out that there is only two types---9mm and 45ACP
Now 44mag/454Casull I have purchased new.

Not sure why anyone would say this is a troll post but its not. I dont reload yet but I am starting to buy components in the hopes to buy a press in a few months. The reason for new brass was to try to eliminate any problems with the brass when Im trying to figure out the whole reloading process. I might be over thinking it but I guess Ill put them to the side for now and try them once Im comfortable with the reloading process. Thanks everyone

Start at the low end of the reloading data and watch your OAL.

Freedom Munitions brass looks like that too.

I've loaded regular brass and stepped brass and the Chrono can't tell the difference.

As a matter of OCD, I segregate that brass until I get enough for a reloading session and reload it separate, but its overkill.

That was sarcasm. This is my sarcasm face: :| <=== see?

The brass that you posted a photo of is GARBAGE. And if I am calling any BRASS, "GARBAGE", then it should be checked again... Anyone that tells you it is FINE to shoot is either lieing or they have been lucky or they have made a mistake and have never reloaded or shot this brass with the STEPPED inside.

This brass that you posted has been known for head separation issues, or rather, not head, but SPLIT cases. Right where the step is is where it splits nice and clean like... I think it is because the thinner brass expands and the thicker brass does not expand, so it rips it off cleanly on a hotter load and that is probably what happens.

But who am I but some jerk on the internets...

No need to listen to what I say go ahead and look at what OTHERS are saying...
I have warned people about reman ammo before, some people have recommended Freedom Munitions, but here is a warning about their newly manufactured ammo, and not only is there a MAJOR problem (KABOOM!), but people are having problems getting Freedom to take care of it. A little while back, I bought a few cases of (NEW, not reloaded) subsonic 9mm that I had earmarked to shoot specifically through a few of my guns. Unfortunately, what I got was 2 cases of junk and I'm out nearly $600 at the moment. This post may sounds like I am bashing the manufacturer...

Out of 6 hundred rounds, had 5 split in half, and 2 with blown out primers. Also, a handful of the rounds felt distinctly "hot". Their IMT brass has a thicker web at the bottom, and above that is exactly where they split, cleanly in half. 100% stoppage that requires field stripping to get the...

Anybody know what that is ? The headstamp has "Ammoload" and "9mm Luger". The primer pocket is kind of slopped and there's some kind of re-enforcement (?) skirt inside. I was processing my range pickup (after ruining couple Fed primers) through the swager and noticed that with this brass I have...

I was at the indoor range yesterday exercising my Kimber 9mm and S&W 986 with a variety of 115g and 124g cartridges from FreedomAmmo, both new and reman. No problems with either gun, but one of the other shooters politely interrupted my manual of arms drill to try and tell me something about...

I mean, why take MY word for anything, but when I see a pattern of folks complaining all over and then seeing this SAME crap in person when my friend was *****ing that his High Point, his JRC AND his Ruger LC9 keep breaking his reloads in half so he can not reload them anymore and then gives me photos, Yeah, I tend to get a negative attitude about garbage like that...

Do NOT get me wrong, XTREME has some EXCELLENT bullets, but WHOEVER is making this STEPPED brass needs a SOLID kick in the nuts from a level 82 Giant with all of his skill points in Legwork and Strength and while wearing Orcish Warboots...

And there ya have it... What city are you in OP? You want some DECENT 9mm brass to reload? (which is mixed brass that is NOT Ammoland or FM or IMT...)

I think that as a new reloader, if I did not warn you, that I would be doing you a disservice and if you loaded it without knowing what you are loading, then you might injure yourself or blow **** up or have a REAL kaboom (probably just a pissy time though since the brass has really only split and left the front portion inside). So there ya have it. Load this stepped brass all you want, by all means, do NOT let me dissuade you. Load it and see if it works for you and if it does and you have no issues then that is EXCELLENT. But I have loaded over 10k 9mm rounds and none have split in half like I have seen this brass split. In fact, 9mm and .45 can usually be loaded many times but this crap I have seen fail after only 1 shot (yes, new brass).

The separation issue is a real thing. Seems like it's more likely to happen under unusual scenarios - hot loads basically. A lot of people cull those out, or cull them out for match loads only (leaving them in for practice). I've loaded more like 25K 9mm and I haven't had any problems with them but my workflow ends up removing them over time - If you grabbed any 100 of my practice rounds you would probably find maybe 2-3 of those cases. Also my 9mm load is pretty light - if I were loading hot I'd remove all of them.

In this case it's apparently a side effect of their cheaper manufacturing process.
