Once Fired 44 mag brass input needed ( pic )

got a pretty good deal on 1lb H110 and 161pc of once fired starline brass for 30 bucks

as im going through these brass , which shot out ruger SBH ( which seller's choice of revolver ) , about 75 % had these medium to deep scratches . but I was able to salvage remaining brass . 1lbs on calgun going for about 25bucks and got the brass for 5 bucks , what the hell , right ?

I didnt toss them yet . but labeled ( load light ) . something tells me it'll be okay , else tells me not ..

please look em cases and what would do ? I did tried to get best pic as possible .. and , if this was truly once fired cases , what do you think it caused this ?

that almost looks like it is from the extractor ring. I would load them as special and shoot them. Inspect them and see what you have.

Yeah I gotta go with the above. Want light loads? Use red dot, power pistol PB and other- Oh and ZIP for 44 special...

I have been plagued with always getting .44 mag rounds now when I need them or not. I go to the range and there they are, so I still have about 1500 virgin new cases I got a long time ago, but have yet to use them still...

Loading them light is a good way to go, maybe try one with a medium load.

Also, ask the guy you bought the brass from. Just say you noticed that some of it was marked and you were curious as to how that happened. Maybe they will tell you...

maybe from extraction/ejection from a lever rifle?
they should be fine for a few reloads, just look for splits in that area

I've seen an RCBS TC sizer die do that to cases when the die was adjusted down to the point of making contact with the ram. When properly adjusted, the problem went away.

I'd try light loads with "Trail Boss" powder at around 900 fps. It fills most of a 44 Mag case & burns very clean. Always inspect brass for cracks, especially those.

Appears like a poorly fitted DA ejector marked them. But a Ruger SBH has ejector rod under barrel. Possibly a Ruger SRH.

Also looks like mark is down in the web of case. Measure inside and out to ascertain. If at or below wed. No worries. If above web, target loads.

Location of ding is consistant on all cases shown. If asked for an educated guess. I would say they were fired in a Semi Auto. Deagle being prime suspect.

No way can I imagine a SA leaving such a mark.

just got confirmed from seller . these were fired out his SBH hunter . and purchased from freedom ammunition . and he said new ...

from I heard , they use once fired brass for their new loaded ammunition ? if thats so , it could've been fired out of different pistol .

I also checked inside of sizing die and didnt find any things that could've done that .

Yeah well after another member came in her so sure of something and trolled everyone I don't care to act like a seal and clap and blow a ****ing horn or jump through hoops trying to figure out what did it. I will label it as WHO KNOWS? so just keep your eye on the brass and keep loading...

I have fired many .44 mag rounds that have split and I could never tell what was what until I picked up the brass...

Freedom had both new and remanufactured. New is all new components and remanufactured are with previously fired brass,
