    Old cast bullets

I have some 40 yr old cast bullets that have been sized and lubed that I'm thinking of now loading. They are fairly well oxidized and I am wondering if using them would create any problems. They will be loaded light and slow for close range target loads.
I know that they will work, but will there be excessive leading in the barrel or ???

Easy to relube if dried out. Leading could occur depending on hardness, if undersized for bore grooves; or if cylinder throats and forcing cone are mismatched in a revolver.

If heavily oxidized I wouldn't shoot them as I don't want the oxidation in my bore. If you shoot them, clean the barrel once home.

I loaded a ton of wad cutters that were probably way older than me and had no problems... I just kept them below 900fps

Tumble lube is also an option, provided you have some handy.

If you use Ben's new recipe for tumble lube, it drys harder then standard 45-45-10.
You don't want to make lead oxide airborn.
Here's a link on how to make it.

Oxidized lead is still a lot softer than any barrel steel.

Get a $16 Lee push through sizer (maybe $18 mah bad).
                    Get a $25 Toaster Oven.
Got a rotating tumbler? If so then get a $1.49 storage container from Smart N Final (they are with the plastic jars and are small and squared.
                    Get some airsoft bbs.
                    Get some powdercoat powder.

Then, melt the lube off and PC them and all of your leading woes go away...

40 year old cast bullets have been known to just bounce-off paper targets at subsonic velocities.
