    .50 DTC

I been thinking about getting a Serbu .50 DTC but I don't see ammo for sale.

So I thought I could reload some .50 BMG.

All my google searching has lead me almost no where. Can't seem to find any DTC dies for sale. I want to make sure I can reload ammo for the rifle before I commit to buying one.

    -Thanks.

CH4D sells the dies and a few posters here reload for it.

Eric Danus from DanTec Corporation in France gave us his design after the 50 BMG was banned. A screw up on reading his prints gave us the 510 DTC and the EDM version. One version has a conventional shoulder while the other has some radius built into it. There is no difference in load data between the two versions.
It also uses standard 50 BMG load data.

I searched on CH4D and browsing their website seems kind of a nightmare. Could not find anything in DTC.

I read online that the EDM is the standard.

I sent Mr. Kubota a PM.

        Thank you!

The first thing you should do is join the FCSA and do enough research to know that the Serbu is the right 50 for you. Also, think about attending the FCSA sanctioned match in Coalinga in May. You'll find several people there who shoot DTC but, I doubt anyone will have a Serbu.

If you get into shooting 50s, you'll want to reload for it sooner or later. If you need help loading DTC, let me know. Maybe we can arrange something. While I don't own a DTC, I do keep a set of LEE DTC dies on hand to help others.

Also, I inherited a small stash of DTC brass that I could give you if the DTC you get is chambered for the same version.

I was reading online Serbu are good rifles. I like the way it looks. I don't like the way the E.D.M ones.

That's the only two I could find. Honestly I'm not sure how I missed those. I appreciate the link.

Pretty much any 50BMG rifle can be chambered or rechambered to 510DTC. If you are interested in precision 50s, I would recommend a custom benchrest gun on a BAT or McMillian action or, for those of us on a budget, an AR50 (I know someone who is planning on bringing some into CA rechambered in DTC) or an ALS or Ferret 50 upper. But, I do know people who can shoot extremely well with their EDMs and Steyrs. IMHO, Vipers, Noreens, Serbus, Barretts, Safety Harbor, Tactilite etc. make OK plinking guns but, for the money, there are better shooting options available.

Well, in the US, it is but, to be honest, the EDM version came to be due to an oversight when EDM was having their first DTC reamers made.

Well the Serbu is the first I found and like the way it looks. Also the cheapest I found. I'm not into competition shooting. Pretty much all I do is plinking.

DTC stands for DanTec Cartridge or Corporation I cannot remember which.
Bill Ritchie at EDM Arms read the print wrong and gave the cartridge a very small radius on the shoulder which means it cannot be called a straight DTC.
He argued with me for a solid month on the BiggerHammer board before I suggested he contact his lawyers and find out.
He still owes me an apology as some from southern California thought threatening me would somehow change the law.
I would not buy or own anything from EDM as the owner is what I consider stupid but he did ask his lawyer.
The triggers on the EDM guns are very nice.

                        Did you hear from Ben?

If not, let me know as we shoot together and I can get an email back in a few minutes. He is the only person I would use if you plan on buying loaded ammo. I see you're in Bakersfield but if you have the time to travel to his place, he can teach you a lot about it.

The BFG is a great rifle for DTC, Mark has a soft spot for us here in CA. He's taken care of us when others have turned their backs. If you call his shop, he will set up the rifle anyway you want it. Plus Mark uses the 50DTC EDM version reamer that is pretty much the standard now after the mess that happend.

It's hard to beat an AR50 for a less expensive (LOL) complete .50cal rifle. But, again, they are a little harder to get in CA.
