    .303 British primer pocket conversion.

Decaping the military 303 British Mk 7 brass is easy. I can do 100 rounds in less than 15 mins. Converting the two flash holes to the single hole as almost the same as trimming the brass.
    BUT.....
The seating of the primer stumps me at this time.
I do know that a Large Rifle Primer is too small for the pocket. I got them to stay with some finger nail polish, and I tried locktite too.

Does anyone here have a better idea?

the 303 is a berdan primer which is larger in diameter than the boxer primers you are trying to use. The problem is once you convert the brass you can no longer use a berdan primer since the anvil needed to activate the primer (that is built into the boxer primer) is built into the brass for berdan primer cases. The problem that you may have with using nail polish or any other adhesive is that you have great pressures at the primer and it is the shape of the primer and the friction that keeps the gasses going the right direction. If you get gas leaking from the primer you can cause damage to your bolt and breach area.

You are better off getting the proper size Berdan primers and just not converting them.

Ok, where can one get Berdan primers?
And just in case your wondering, I have NOT converted all my brass to Boxer.
Just 10 rounds as a test.
But the tool I use is a Hydro decaper. Simple and very easy to make. Works every time.

Occasionally you see them pop up for sale here on the boards.

Do your research and make sure you get the right size primer. They are not all the same size.
Last time I searched, I used Ammoseek.com and found several options.

If your .303 cases are just a tad larger than Boxer large rifle, the Tula KV-7.62N should fit.

I have tried the RCBS tool and the hydro method, I came up with a tool that I find is way faster. Pics in the link below, there are also measurements and sources in this post.

So it looks like I should just get rid of my Lee Enfield #4 and the several hundred rounds I have left for it...

What a waste of $70... Hmm. But my ammo is mostly Sellior and Belliot. I wonder if they are boxer primed.

There are actually two sizes of berdan primers for .303 British. Most of the British made and the Pakistani (POF) is a .250 diameter primer. As for some others like FN, it is the standard size berdan primer of .217. Regardless, there is no good way of converting these to boxer that is safe.

The .217 diameter are available, you just have to look around. The .250 are like hens teeth but I have some that I'm saving for when you can no longer get boxer primers (think SHTF).

Don't use the RCBS tool above as they tend to damage the anvil.

It really is not worth the time since the boxer primed commercial, including Sellior & Belliot, is so easy to come by.

What headstamp is on the brass you are trying to convert?

You should have gotten the 308 version of the #4 or just pick up some commercial ammo that is boxer primed and load the snot out of it
