    Ammo Backround check, Sac county.

Just wanted to see if I can get some info...

Ive searched the forum and internet and couldn't find anything on the matter...

So..I bought some green tip ammo today here at reputable gun shop in Sacramento. The Gentlemen took a copy of my DL, and a Thumb print. I asked why and what for? Told him that I havent heard of that what gives? He replied that in Sacramento county the DOJ is requiring a backround check after the point of sale on 5.56 green tip ammo!!

Ive searched all over the internet havent seen any info on that.. Was that Dude full of it? Anyone else hear of this yet?

You've just been recorded as owning an AR-15 with the DOJ so that when the gun confiscation starts they will know you have one.

J.K. but I had heard that Sacramento County and some others were discussing requiring collecting this info from anyone buying Ammo.

Sacramento City has had an ordinance that requires an ID for ammo purchases. The stores have to log everything and report it to the city.
This is only in Sacramento city limits, not the county.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

edit to add, its not so much as a background check, but just so they know who bought a box of "X ammo" (they think it will give them a map to the drive by shooting that happened on XX day with the empty cases left at the sene)

This is nothing more than a feel good law (we are doing something)

Q: What was the most positive result of the "Cash for Clunkers" program?
A: It took 95% of the Obama bumper stickers off the road.

That also leaves a paper trail.
California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.

It's not just for green tip ammo, while back I bought 20 rounds of 7.62-54r and they required the same info. Kinda got me steamed, got the same answer from the clerk too.

This is what we all have to look forward to thanks to Newsome and all Democrat zombies who will gladly sign any progressive trash put in front of them.

                    Thank you for the info!

Thanks guys for the replies and info, I talked to a few others in the area and they informed me that this is a Sacramento thing. Strange because I haven't heard anything about it, for what I can gather it applies to "bulk ammo". I didn't know 100 rounds was bulk...But again common sense doesn't seem to apply here. I was also informed that here we are not allowed to buy ammo online..

Not to sound negative, but it seems the political process here in Ca has failed. I don't remember being able to say no to or vote down these ordinances or laws. Are they really representing the majority now?

                    Oh well,
Keep up the good fight guys, thank you again.

My goggle skills are weak. I couldn't find any info online. I think any ammo sales in the city limits of sac require ID and a thumb print. LE and CCW are exempt from this requirement. Ammo will not be shipped to a sac city address. I believe that is only for pistol and rifle ammo because I have a buddy who orders a cases of shotgun shells for duck hunting without any problems.

They did this back in the 1970's here where I live. Then it was soon discontinued as law enforcement was swamped with useless records keeping that never solved a single crime and took resources that were better used elsewhere.

As I recall there is a LGS in the San Diego area that has been requiring d/l checks and I think thumb prints for a long time...other's don't....I have no idea what their motives are but for that reason and a couple of others (like cutting a deal at Walmart to buy "quantities" of ammo and reselling at higher prices) I won't shop there.

As to a paper trail I doubt that with all the little on line retailers that are shipping to California on a regular basis that the Feds or states keep any records except tax records on the dollar amount...same with powder and primers..I don't buy those locally at all...I can "buddy up" with another loader or two and spread the hazmat and freight and do better and also find what I want easier.
God and the Constitution give me my rights and actions...any other input is just blabbering.

It is not for bulk ammo, it is for all ammo sales in the city limits.
The ordinance does not control mail order ammo sales, but most retailers will not ship anyway.
