I'm dropping this tidbit here because I think some might appreciate it. I think this would probably not have happened to someone who doesn't reload.
So I'm headed to USI yesterday to spend a couple of hours relaxing and shooting a new to me Sig 226 in .40 and stop off at an Ace Hardware on the way out to pick up some stuff. Apparently while I was driving, the bags shifted. When I came out to load up items from the store, I hit the remote switch and as the rear door is slowly going up a bag makes it way over. This is where it got fun. I'm about 15 feet away from the back of the Tahoe and as I see the bag make it's move everything goes into slow motion. The top of the bag is unzipped and in that compartment is all the ammo. I tend to use lots of different boxes to store ammo and while it all starts off in a proper storage box (mostly for a final inspect and sharpie marking) I will then dump it into a cardboard box to take to the range.
Anyway, back to slo mo. Bag tips, box pops out, throws off lid as if to make it to freedom. 300 rounds of .40 hits parking lot and rolls around like a bag of marbles. Two guys walking by seem disinterested. Fine. The mom with her kids walking by is not sure what to say and the kids are highly interested in the shiney things. I put down my recently shopped items and start to recover my ammo. No one called the police and all was fine but was still a pucker moment for me just the same.
Obviously, I'll be zipping up that bag moving forward.
