    Powder coating checklist

So I'm looking into powder coating my .45 bullets.
Looks like I just need a cool whip container, air soft BB's (black) and the powder. Did I miss anything?
    HF red the cheapest? Best?
    I have oven and hemostats

And do I run through the sizer before and after PC?

I would think that you don't need to size before PC... Only after.

Is it required to use black airsoft bb's? Does the color make a difference?

Just wondering since I'm about to get started also. Got some 60% semi-gloss black from a friend that does PC'ing. He buys it in 50# boxes.

Op you will need a toaster oven. ( edit: I now see you have a oven)
        And size after coating.

Don't forget Non-stick aluminum foil or parchment paper (I prefer the latter).

If you live in a humid area, the hemostats might be better, but in a dry climate, I've been successful simply massaging the bullets and powder in a 1 Gallon ziplock bag and using nitrile gloves "dusted" with powder to pick and place. You won't have to spend this much time per bullet, I simply took one with very poor coverage to demonstrate how the powder will spread evenly over the bullet when the air is dry.

Don't bother with HF powder coat.

            Buy from thepowdercoatstore.com

            I like the mirror blue

One coat and done. HF took 2 coats and was still mediocre .

Chris from the powder coat store has been a lot of help to me though emails many times. I support his shop any time I can.
But theres many other sources around to get powder.

HF will work good enough to get you started.

My first batch was on my BBQ.
You will find out, the better the powder, the better the coverage.

It shouldn't take more than an hour to set up, test coat about 20 bullets, bake them and put everything away while you set the tray aside and let them cool.

Yes, the HF Red can be hit or miss depending on the humidity and there are better powders available. The HF powder is only $5 but $10-$12 isn't bad for higher quality powder when you realize that you can coat many thousands of bullets with just a pound.

Brother, do not discourage others. There is room in Valhalla for everyone who is not mediocre...

For what it is worth, I have been studying the path of the righteous and I have made a spreaded sheet in a PDF format that details which powders to get to specifically NOT be mediocre. It is my cheat sheet, but it will get me there because in life you must play to win, not play around...

And yes, I give HF RED to mine enemies for I care not to see their faces at the table across from me as I feast in the glory of all that is good in Valhalla...
