Loadmaster users, Better to get a Shake-Brake or a Inline Fab Strong Mount?

The Shake Brake from Magic Mike is only about $10.00 where the inline fab strong mount will run me about $60+ I am thinking.

The Shake Brake is supposed to make the Loadmaster solid, although I am not thrilled about having to drill holes in my press.

This will be in an effort to give the press the BEST possible environment (shake free) for priming.

Thoughts?

Inline Fabrication makes great stuff.You will not be dissapointed.
You could aslo get the quick change plates for all your presses.More money, but takes up alot less space on your bench.

I have my Loadmaster mounted solid to a butcher block using the Lee Bench Plate. I punched a hole through the back of the plate and threaded it. Bench plate wooden mount has same hole and lines up with stud screwed into plate. Stud keeps Loadmaster mount inline with brackets. Lots of ammo through press, no issues with movement and mounted rock solid.

I have a few MM billet turrets and stabilizers on all caliber turrets, really high quality.

Shake brake unless you need the added height

You're going to need to get a adjustable strut to mount to the shake brake too, not sure what that will add to the overall cost. Great concept.

I do not have a butcher block to mount this press to. I have a work bench mounted to the wall with diagonal supports underneath. The top is covered with about a 1/2" of plywood. I noticed that both my Loadmaster and even the JRC will tend to make the edge DIP a little at that spot on the edge.

I do NOT need any extra height. Shake Brake IS the cheaper of the two and the conduit should be only about $4-$8 I am thinking.

The thing I am wrestling with is the Shake Brake costs me $10 + a few local parts. The Inline Fab, gives me something expensive and nice to buy, but it might not solve my problem if I still need to brace my bench at the edge and I do not really have any more space for it which is why I had the Lee QC bench plate setup in the first place.

Alrighty. I will have to see what all I can use as a brace or what I can do to make this thing work...

At what point have you invested too much time and money putting lipstick on a pig.

I'm red lipstick guy, but I consider my progressive a really good tool. I've upgraded a few convenience items like a Inline stand and a led light kit, but the press is a solid performer. I'd not fault a guy for wearing blue lipstick either though.

Buy once, cry once.

I had the brace (Shake Brace) on my old Loadmaster. I made it myself with about $4 of hardware parts. To me it didn't made a difference on consistency of the ammo I was making so I quick wasting time tinkering with it and quit using it.

Initally I was going to put a piece of angle iron underneath that portion of the bench to support the JRC, but now that I see the shake brake, well, I can kill two birds with one stone... And it is ONLY to help with priming apparently.

I quit priming on it with or without the brace. I was using my LCT for that.

I didn't like how the LLM does the priming. You have to load 15-20 extra primers so you can get enough weight behind the primers so they can feed. For example, When I load in batches of 100, I had to use 120 primers so it would feed 100 reliably. Some times the primers would slide off and fall in the expended primer tube. So I would have completed rounds with no primers in them when I didn't catch it. Then most of the time, they wouldn't line up correctly with the case till I got a second resizer die to put in that station.

That makes sense. The primers can fall off if the press shakes or rocks (thus me wanting a shake brake). But I am finding that some people who make you tube videos make the videos and they do not understand how the press works or is SUPPOSED to work. Then they spread misinformation through their videos and people that are new (me) watch and get confused with conflicting data.

I wanted a cool budget press and I got it. It works EXCELLENT if I do not have to prime on the press, but I am going to see how fast I can prime shells when I get back and get it put together correctly.
