    Need Help Identifying Lead Tipped

I just came across these and was wondering if someone could identify for me. If there's a better thread/area to post this to, please advise. I've got a bunch of stuff from the sale of a home that I'm going through...Thanks in advance. See Pics20150724_162114.jpg

Part of them are called "half jackets". They were used to reduce leading in the barrel.

          OK my bad

With out a weight or diameter I would guess them to be .38 158 gr. Semi jacketed vintage Speer brand.

2 different semi wadcutter bullet profiles. Maybe roll your own from someone.

That you all for the fast replies. I've got two cardboard boxes of old vintage ammo and stuff I'm going through. Looks like I need to invest in a micometer. Is this area of the forum the best place to ask these things...because I'll have more.

Looks like you have homemade lead swaged. weigh them and sell them as such possibly.

If the weights are all over, then that is most likely what they are.

Looks like someone did not have the proper lead wire so they made lead slugs and dropped them into jackets that were either too small or not cut right. If you got a black plastic box and a die set OR if you have ANYTHING that says BT SNIPER on a box, I might be the winner.

Actually, if there is a swaging press or a set of CH4D dies that could be the indicator as well.

And I agree with Bronco, That one lower left IS a dime, You can tell the the little ridges on its edge. If it were a nickel it would be wider and thicker with a smooth edge. If it were copper looking it would be a penny (probably) and if it were spherical with little jap symbols on it it would be a pachinko ball...

I have no idea if there is a collectors market for those old projectiles or not.

All of them weigh in at 15.5 Grams (239.2 grain per conversion chart) and are approximately 10.5 mm

                            Sounds like 44 mag.

The jacketed pistol bullets we're accustomed to today are relatively new. This "over-sized gas check" style was in the interim between straight lead alloy and modern jacketed bullets. Rough guess is 1960's.
