I found this while sorting my brass. Anybody know what made those four lines around the primer pocket?

Looks like a primer crimp to me. -
The NATO cross in the circle indicates, to me, this is or at some point was ammo with a crimped primer pocket. Assuming the rest of ops ammo doesn't have those marks,I say its the bolt face.To the best of my knowledge L.C. doesn't stake there primers.Keep it simple!Comment

It's a staked primer, which is for similar reasons as the traditional crimping that goes all the way around.Comment

I have tons of LC 2013 NATO brass without that.
And here's another with the same headstamp.

As stated above, just two different types of crimping done on 5.56 NATO brass.It's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop at the bottom.Comment

It is the primer crimp. Federal / LC sometimes uses the staked primer method.

After going though a 500 round case of 2012 LC .223, I found that about 1 in 10 cases had the staked primer crimp.Comment

I have a gallon of these cases. Understand, ammo is made on several machines, not one machine. Sometimes they need to add a machine or run a backup machine.Comment

I ran into a bunch of those a year or two ago. It's kind of inelegant looking but you deal with them just like the more traditional primer crimp.Comment
