    Accurate #9

Has anyone used #9 for 44 & 357 magnums, and how well does it perform? I've been a big fan of 2400 but, as you all know powder is tough to find, thought I would try-out some #9.
    Thanks,
    Moyneur

I have used #9 with great success in .44 mag. Check Lee's 2nd edition. I think the min was 18gr, and the max was 20 gr.
Lee's 2nd Edition goes a little higher with powder amounts.

I think AA#9 is among the top 5 powders for .44 mag.

My top 5 powders to choose for a 240gr pill are:
          1. H110 (24 gr)
          2. Enforcer (19.5gr)
          3. IMR 2400
          4. AA#9
          5. 300-MP
          6. Blue Dot (15.4gr ?)
          7. 700-X (8.4gr)

I don't load for 44 mag but #9 is one of my favorite powders in 357 mag. I load 158 gr cast and 180 gr cast in my S&W's and my Marlin 1894.

If you were able to get AA#9, then you are going to be very satisfied. It works great for 357 Magnum, especially with a 125gr JHP. I haven't tried it with 44 Mag yet, but use it a lot for the 357.

It's pretty versatile as a slow burner. I also use it a lot for 10mm, 357 Sig and 30 Carbine.
