PC is a lot of fun. The Faraday effect can be a little bit of a pain but the end product is pretty fun.

I might start doing some MCC here pretty soon.

People do it or dont do it for a lot of reasons, and like everything else there is no shortage of people who want to argue about it. Since I just went through one such episode for the last 4 days I have to be pretty honest and say I am not really interested in taking up the torch for another one. But here is the premise and thats as far as I am willing to go down that avenue.

Group A tends to say the following

            -it helps prevent leading
            -looks cool
-if done right negates the need for lube (because it is built into the coat)
            -cuts down on smoke
-cuts down on issues with indoor ranges that dont allow cast bullets

            Group B says

            - if you learn how to alloy properly you dont need to coat bullets
            -who cares how it looks

There are tons of videos and threads going over all aspect of this making a claim for their side, taking up the righteous torch of internet justice for whatever their cause is. Me personally, I am just experimenting.

Check bore fit, powder, velocity or lube choice

                Then get into powder coating...

As a group A member, I have to say group b is right but I couldn't get it to cross multiple guns. I share ammo with my kids and what wouldn't foul my guns might foul theirs. PC solved that, it's better now!

How do you keep your PC from not getting damaged when you set it in the case?

I tend to agree with both groups but more with Group A. There is a lot less hassle involved with PC or MCC than with lube and some of the other steps involved with getting naked cast rounds ready to fire and I personally like the end product more. I havnt fired mine yet but ive done a fair amount of research because I was worried about anything baking into my barrel. I no longer have the same concerns. Though I do not think group be is wrong from a technical standpoint I do not think the resistance to it comes from only that place. I often wonder if the same resistance occurred with copper jackets.

Well the stuff is pretty tough. I size my bullets after I coat them, and rarely ever do I have any material come off. Making sure you have the case mouth belled properly helps too. But like I said the stuff is pretty tough.

On a side note about belling I once received some rounds in a trade that were reloaded by a long time reloader and avid user of a progressive press and found these mixed into the bag. It is hard to see in the photo but the top case is actually split and the bottom case is cracked, buckled and almost half the diameter of the round is seated outside of the case mouth.

Even jacketed rounds are subject to damage if you dont seat them right.

The only thing I miss with lube is when sizing (star) I fumble a slippery unsized bullet into the catch bin full of sized ones.

That would suck. I use one of the ones that feed up so mine just get pushed up into a little plastic cylinder.

I disagree with something but I am not sure what just yet.

I Look at it this way, and it is SAD that I do, but PC is a bandaid. It fixes issues that a skilled alloy master caster would be able to fix. PC makes ANY casting NOOB an artist...

Did you know that you can recharge your car's AC system with DUST OFF, the chemical canned air? I watched a you-tube video with an older car blowing around 41 degree air from doing that and it is cheaper. But since I am not a master HVAC and not 609 certified, Maybe I will just install the stuff from the auto shop for $36 a can and follow their directions. Yeah the air will not be as cold as the other stuff, but it would save me from having to know all of that...

Group A is absolutely correct. They are the winners.

Group B is absolutely correct. They are the pragmatists.

Group B is mad because all of the work that they have done can now be bypassed by group A's work and now group B is not as 1337 as they once thought they were. Group B needs to stop whining and follow through with their pragmatic approach and keep on doing what they used to do. Their skills are still needed, but just not as much. I think group B is kinda jealous that group A stole some of the spotlight...

Also, group A also does it because it leaves you with CLEAN fingers after loading mags and pills on the bench and at the range.

Also, group A has the ability to make a lapping pill that wil clean out the barrel a bit more and they also have the ability to make new kinds of pills and tracer rounds possibly by using GITD powder. This last claim has not yet been substantiated.
