Best 22 LR for plinking and just having some fun

Hello all,
I have a Browning Buckmark and am looking for a good .22 lr bullett for it.

So far I've tried :

Winchester 1280 FPS 40 grain high velocity
these seem ok but I get 2-3 failures to fire per box of 100 - primer gets punched but nothing but a click happens.

Remington cyclones - big box of 500+ -
these shoot ok but there are a lot of failures to fire. I'm not halfway through the box and I've probably seen 20 of those just not go off.
A little smoky too. Oh, and some of the bullets spin in the cases.

CCI Stingers - so far several hundred of these and I don't think I've had a failure with them. They actually make a little bit of recoil compared to the others. Not a lot of smoke. Cost twice a much as most others though.

Aguila - Supermaximum Hyper Velocity.. 30 grain supposedly faster than the stingers. They shoot pretty well and are comparable to the stingers BUT they are smoky as hell. 20 rounds of these and you think you've fired up a Duraflame log.
They cost about 1/2 as much as the CCIs but right now I'd rather pay the extra for the stingers and be able to see the next target.

I've also got some Federal 36 grain Champion rounds in the 525 pack that I picked up at Big5. 1280 FPS on these.

I haven't used these yet. I just picked them up because I was in Big5 getting something for my kids.

Anyway, I'm pretty much just using these for plinking at the range. I took one of my kids for the first time recently and she loved it. I'd rather pay a bit more and not have to deal with misfires and smoke etc.

In your opinions, which 22 LR is the best in terms of accuracy, price, reliability and cleanliness.

I only shoot CCI standard velocity in my 41's and have had no misfires in thousands of rounds and is fairly accurate. I shoot AM and Federal bulk pack from Wally World in everything else.

I like the federal in pistols and rifles. Packaged nice, round looks and feels good, not lose. Very consistent in both as well. Find it cheap and your good to go.

I have a very picky .22lr. It doesn't shoot many brands well like Remington (Remington tends to be very dirty burning too). What feeds through all my .22lrs with little to no fails is the bulk federal value pack. I get about 1 ftf in every 5 boxes and only get a failure to eject when I rapid fire for 5 minutes without letting the barrel cool. Try the federal bulk value pack, you won't be disappointed. You can get them at Walmart.

When you go to wallyworld to get the fed bulk pack, make sure it sayd valu-pack on it and not champion. The champions have problems in most of my autoloaders.

Hmmm... I'm looking at the one I bought a while back and it says "525 Round Value Pack" on it but it also says Champion in the bullet semi circle at the bottom front.

Looking at the back of the box it says Load No. 745 at the bottom of the Ballistic Information Table

1280 fps at muzzle
drop 3.4" at 100 yards

My buckmark loves CCI mini mags, 40gr. It seems to shoot these all day without stopping. It's not as cheap as federal bulk pack, 3 - 4 bucks for 100 rounds, but buy in bulk. I'm still shooting a 5k case I bought in 2003 bought at 199.

Try it and see. It may work for you. But the good fed bulk stuff comes in a 550 round pack. The champions like you have give one of my 10/22s some trouble. My Mk II and III's do OK with them, but the 22 conversion kits I have/had never liked them. The fed valu-pack stuff has worked through everything I own, with the only exception being an advantage arms Glock 26 conversion.

Thanks again guys! I'll shoot the Federals I have and see how it goes. Might also try those 1500 fps game shocks too.

I haven't tried the mini-mags but if they are like the Stingers they should be ok.

Federal Automatch works well in my Buckmark. The Federal 525 Bulk Pack seems alittle underpowered and Rem Golden Bullet Bulk seems to vary too much.

Rem golden bullet is higher price at Wal mArt and has varying qc it seems. The Fed bulk packs do seema little weak these days, my 10/22's now choke on them it seems.
