I have here before me a box of Winchester Bullets .375 Cal, .375" Dia, 300 gr S.T.. They are double canelured Silvertips sold for reloading in boxes of 50. The price tag indicates I bought them for $5.35 some time around 1973 for a .375 Epstein Magnum custom rifle. Today they would sell new for around $45.00, if they were still available. At one time Silvertips were a common reloading component.
I also have a couple of boxes of Winchester Commemorative Ammunition for Browning Model 71, Super-X, 20 Centerfire Rifle Cartridges, 348 Winchester, 200 GR Silvertip. The box has a picture of the Browning 71 on the front. The cartridges are packed in a red, foam lined plastic tray. I bought them with a Browning Model 71 Carbine in the 1980's.
I do miss the olden days, when a dollar was worth more and companies hadn't been bought and sold until the trademark was all that is left.Last edited by Wrangler John; 06-08-2015, 5:52 AM.Comment
