    Lead bullets - weight question...

I bought some lead bullets and they are marked 185 gn.

But with excessive lube - measure closer to 200 gn. This is for Ruger (semi-hot) 45Colt loads.

Which weight would you use? And yes I still use recipes from powder mfgs.

Wow. that is some heavy lube... Melt it off and make them PC...

If I were loading for .45 LC then I would go to the BoLee...

I would also load it with a 160gr boolit. They seem to be quite fun lately. 6.5gr of HP-38 or 6.0gr of TG to start and an OAL of: 1.480 IIRC.

I have shot a few (2k) of my own various loads using mostly the same bullets - 255 gn with different powders.

This one issue came up today with some bullets I bought.

          IMO

Go with the "actual" weight of the bullets loaded. Not the weight on the box.

That is a 7.5% increase in bullet weight. Which may be enough to push your (semi-hot) Ruger loads up to the (too damn hot) level.

Anytime I change components, I drop back a bit and work up again.

            What the **** is bolee?

It is "Book of Lee", Lee's reloading manual.

I'd use the actual weight and work up from there. Ruger SA revolvers are tough but no sense pushing your luck.

Go with actual weight. Just because their mold was for one weight that does not account for the mixture of lead used.

Wow, I am a follower of bolee....

I think Ill load like they are 185's and make a few test loads at 200 - normal pressures and fiire in the Ruger. Dont want to overpressure my sweet Uberti.
