.45 ACP Cost

I have never buy .45 ACP ammo before and not sure what is considered a good deal on them these days. What did you usually pay for them 1, 2, 3, 4 years ago? Just want to know a good ball park price as well. I see slickguns usually have them for around 30 cents a round but i think that they are mostly wolf steel case. I want to save the brass for reload. Last question is, does Baer, Colt and these medium entry guns work well wolf ammo, thx.

You can't compare steel - which is typically Russian ammo to brass prices.

None are BAD, none will hurt your gun. Professionally loaded reloads won't hurt your gun, but might void your warrantee - if you tell the manufacturer.

The best price will be a large buy 1k or more from a pro reloader or places like Palmetto Armory... or ammobot.com.

Dont save pennies.

Since when did Colt and Baer become mid-range guns?

FORTY CENTS if buying in small quantities. 20cents or less if you are loading.
Shoot 9mm if you think these are expensive.

I would say go to walmart and look at their prices. They are not as easily influenced by all of the BS and typically sell at normal prices.

I think around .36-.42 might be a decent price to pay.

But I dunno since I make my own and mine shoot like lazers. Today I was hitting a 12" dinger about 137+ yards out. Once I even hit the 6" dinger just aiming straight on. All with an Operator.

I reload my own 45acp and it costs me 7cents per round (I cast that's why) you can get quality reloads from freedom munitions for 18 cents each in smaller quantities than 1000. I've shot 2000 of their reloads and not one problem.

I found a couple of Baer for 2k at my local shop and thru some online distributors. I also see much more expensive 1911 so I figure 2k is a mid range "price" gun since they aren't the most expensive. I don't mean to say that they are mid range quality gun since I really don't know what quality gun is yet.

That's a good thought. I'd written Walmart off since I could never get any .22 there and their 5.56 price is nearly double that when I buy them online.

Yeah, they might not HAVE .45 acp in stock, but they WILL have the prices. ANd the last few times I have been in there, the prices AND the loaded ammo were both on the shelves.

SOMETIMES, if you look carefully you will find that they even sell BULK ammo. I found it TWICE so far (cause I only looked twice) at the van buren store under the glass that they have the register at. I found several 30 cal ammo cans and even cardboard boxes of 500+ rounds of .223 and some other caliber. I think they were the 30 cal ammo cans, I do not remember them being so big. My friend was like, hey wanna buy one or two, I was like, nah, I would rather build my own...

The ammo was where the knives were, but at the end of the case, not in the same case as the other ammo.

People would look at me all funny when I would shoot 5 rounds and reload the same cases to load develop. That kit made some damn good ammo and still sits in my reload bag.

I bought both PMC and Aguila from SG last year for $300. Got the S&B from a shop in Arizona last Sept for $300. Deals are out there, but you have to look for them.

I am wanting to take my Lee Hand Press to the range and see how many times I can load a .45 acp before it cracks. Something tells me I am in for a two day adventure... AND that will be one dirty shell...

I've reloaded 45 ago shells at least 10 times. They were bunny fart 2.5 gr bullseye loads though. About 30 of them have cracked but they are all from 1981 lol
