    Bulls eye

I picked up some bullseye and want to reload 45 with it. I have 230gr copper plated bullets round nose. I can only find data for spear TMJ 230gr. Would these be close to the same or dose anyone load this and have data for 230gr copper plated round nose. I normally just use lead round nose data if I can't find any other data.

It would be the same. You can use the load data for the Speer 230 gr TMJ

Lyman has 230gr TMJ 3.8 to 5.3 I'll use that data. It sucks hornady only specifies there bullets.

That's like saying that It suck that Ford doesn't list Nissan cars on their brochures.

                  If they are Berry's plated:

We do not research or publish the load data, but you can use any published load data for a jacketed or lead bullet as long as it is the same weight bullet. Any of the load data books or the powder manufacturers’ website should have that information for you, as long as you keep them under 1250 fps for our standard bullet or 1500fps for the bullets designated as TP (thick plate).

If a COL or OAL is needed please email service@berrysmfg.com for further information.

We recommend very little crimp on the bullet, just enough to put pressure against the bullet without denting or deforming the plating. If you were to pull the bullet out of a case with the proper crimp you would find no more than a scratch on the surface of the plating. If you are denting or deforming the bullet your accuracy will suffer and the bullet may start to tumble before it hits the target.

There bullets from Rocky mountain reloading there thick plated. Been loading them for years just never have with bull eye. The Lyman book has data for 230gr TMJ so I will use that. Thanks for the replys. I just wasn't sure if TMJ and plated were the same or close to the same.

They're not the same. TMJ is like jacketed. Plated is like plated. If you wanna see how this changes pressure and velocity go to Ramshot's data and see. They have jacketed and plated. It's not data for Bullseye, but you can infer how Bullseye will behave.

For the Berry's plated 230gr with Bullseye I run 5.0gr for standard practice loads and 5.3gr to simulate my "+p" defense loads. Both run well in all my pistols.

Speer and Sierra do the same. Bullet makers published data, only list loads for "their" proprietary bullets. Powder makers published data, only list loads for "their" proprietary powders.

Lyman makes reloading equipment, they don't give a crap whose components you use. They pimp their equipment.

Same for the Lee Manual, They pimp Lee reloading products. But they also publish established data from all available bullet and powder makers.

For the money, Lee is the best all around manual out there.

Start at the low end of the charge date, Load 5 round each load, going up in 1/2g intervals until near max. Test each load at an easy distance on separate targets.

Choose the load with the best grouping.
