    Static Electricity

Can any of you long time reloaders give me some tips on getting rid of static elect. from powder funnels? I have several from Lee, RCBS, etc and it has never been a problem untill this week. It is doing it with Titegroup, Bullseye, and HS6. I haven't tryed any rifle reloads but I think it would be the same problem. I don't think it is the powder. I suspect the weather might have an influence. Any quick ways to demagnatise the funnels?

Thanks for the reply. What do I do with the dryer sheet? Are you talking about the sheets you throw in the dryer when your doing laundry? Will just rubbing it on the funnel solve the problem?

Take a used dryer sheet and rub it inside you powder dropper and it will get rid of the static electricity. I store one inside mine when they aren't being used and give it quick wipe down before filling it with powder.

If you're really cheap, you can even try a used dryer sheet. There is often enough residue to get rid of the static electricity.

When we had small kids, I used to bring a dryer sheet to the park to get rid of the static on the plastic slides. It worked great on the backyard stuff too.

Dude just knock on your neighbor's door and asked them if they happen to have their used dryer sheets.

There's also a spray can you can buy that prevents static cling. One quick short blast, close the lid on the powder hopper and let it dry for 5 min and it's done.

Okay I will bite. Were they getting stuck to the slides and not able to get off at the bottom or something?

If you've ever gone down a plastic slide on a hot dry day, you'd know that static electricity ain't fun.

I have gone down metal ones. The only plastic one is at the park down the street and RPD told me I was not allowed to go there anymore.

Oh BTW, nobody else EVER finds it as funny as you when you pick up a kid and run with them, even if it is a short distance like say, 300 feet or so...
