    Time For A Trimmer... Suggestions

It has been a while since I was in the market for a power trimmer. Well since I have some tax money coming back I want to speed up my processing of rifle brass. I have always had my eyes on the Giraud and I see now their price has increased! Also there are many more new trimmers out there. What is everyone using?

    Models I am looking at:
    Giraud
    Dillon RT1500.
    Hornady LNL Case prep center.

Consider a Gracey trimmer with a carbide bit.
    Keep it simple!

Do you have a Gracey? I see they have an option to add your own motor. I see its a Dayton motor from Grainger. If someone has a trimmer can you get me the part number for the motor. I am curious what my price is direct from Grainger.

I've owned manual trimmers, the Dillon RT 1200, the Gracey with the carbide bit. I sold them both and bought the Giraud in the 5 Rifle calibers that I load in volume. I still own a Lyman power trimmer for the 8 or so other rifle calibers I load in small volumes.

The ONLY advantage to the Dillon RT 1200 is using it on a progressive press.

The Giraud is the best trimmer investment I've made, better than the Dillon and the Gracey.

If you can afford the Girauld, I would say get it. It makes trimming a breeze.

Talk to Bronco about this but I think he might be able to or might have or might be able to point you into the right direction. I bought a CTS trimmer in both .308 AND .223 and was not too thrilled about it trimming and putting marks on my cases.

I was going to go after the Giraud but DAMN $450+ and how long a wait?

Then Big Bronco came along and told me about this new one called the EZ-TRIM it or something. http://www.eztrimit.com/ and they have essentially the SAME trimmer blade that the Giraud uses except that it is adjustable adn basically- well, CHEAPER in many aspects then the Giraud trimmer. and for 1/3rd the price of the Giraud...

                  Giraud
It trims, chamfers and deburrs all at once.
Tried the Gracey and sold it to buy a Giraud.

It depends on how many different cartridges you are trimming. If it's a lot, you will probably want the Giraud. It can accommodate pretty much everything through 50 BMG. You'll just want a blade for each caliber and a pilot for each cartridge, which are easy to change out. The Dillon is a bit more limited, and the Hornady requires a locking shellholder, which will slow you down big time, and some cartridges do not come with standard sized shellholders.

I have, and like, the Gracey. I did the motor upgrade and got the carbide bit...

It also lights cigars and retrieves beer if you get the deluxe model.

I have a Dillon 1200 and also Little Crows in a few calibers. The LC's are extremely easy to use, and that's what I do use when loading less than 200 cases. Very clean cut and fast!
