1st reloading set up

So I picked this up for 50$ (barter) i feel like i did well for being my first little reloading set up. I need a manual and calipers. What else can you guys recommend? My trimming and swaging is taken care at my friends house. I'm looking for basic necessities not fancy gadgets. Thanks calguns.

Tumbler,powder,primers,bullets and a case mic.

You did very well, that stuff's worth more like $125.00. Besides components and powder, you need a case trimmer, chamfer/debur tool, case gauge, cheap Harbor Freight Rock Tumbler, some SS media (but it from Calgunner Stilly, he is always on here), Dawn dishwashing detergent, Lemishine, $10.00 Harbor Freight calipers, at least one or two good reloading manuals.

Forgot to add: I have 1k cases (500 ready to load), 250 55 grain rounds, 1 lb BLC-2 and 1lb I4198, 1k CCI SR. Case mic?

Case Mic is what RCBS calls there little device that measures "shoulder bump" for proper sizing.

My digital frankford scale was under 20 bucks. It tested accurate against a beam scale and id recommend it. Ive loaded thousands with it without issue. I like to buy stuff that works and not cry at all!

You can skip a tumbler entirely if you dont want one. They just make brass look pretty.

Is that the Challenger aluminum? I have not seen a NORMAL pic of one of them before. Nice. The Classic Cast is nicer, but I have heard good things about the Challenger.

Check out that hand primer setup carefully. Those break after xx years old and if it breaks on you and you have no way to prime, then you will ned to get a new primer setup. You can NOT buy pieces for those anymore. The round ones were discontinued after some jackass blew one up and then Lee felt they needed to prevent all of the jackasses from doing what he did. Now they have the ergo prime and the new hand prime with the square trays.

As for the scale, I have no experience on that scale but Lee claims it is the bestest scale in the entire universe, well, maybe not that claim, but I would consider getting a digital check scale to check the weights out in case you do not trust this scale at first and vice versa. Goto amazon.com and look for the Gemini 20 by American Weigh- they are milligram scales and will measure in .02gr and are very accurate and fast. They also cost about $25.

Not sure what I got honestly, it does feel light from the top end so it might be cast aluminum. I guess i'll just run it until it runs out of life, then get the ergo one. I'll look into that scale you suggested.

The RCBS 505 is a great scale to have. It's easy to use and accurate, you won't go wrong. I also have a Jennings Mack 20 electronic scale that I really like using too and it has a 20 year warranty.

For a brass tumbler I use a Cabelas tumbler and corn cob media.

You also need some other stuff that has been mentioned in above posts. Don't forget ammo boxes. For 223 I like the 100 round Cabelas hinged boxes. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shoot...3Bcat522363780

That scale will work just fine when you learn how to read it properly. I use it and trust it 100%
