My 30.00 DIY case feeder update, 2.0

I probably should have painted it first but here it is.
The upper shuttle, collector, motor and frame is all modular.

The collector is a 2gl bucket with a rotisserie motor attached I got on EBay.
The tubes,5/8" and 1/2" I got at Tap plastic.
I heated up the 5/8" and pushed a funnel in it for the funnel shape.
The bottom of the tube is slotted. I have a piece of 1/2" tube inside with a bracket w/ rubber grommet to squeeze the outer tube that holds the inner tube but leaves it adjustable.

The micro switch is from radio shack. I had to stretch the spring inside the switch and add to the arm with a strip of aluminum can to make the switch more sensitive.

The lower pusher shuttle runs on a bent 3/16" rod with a adjustable bracket mounted to the bench. It has a plexiglass triangle attached to push the upper shuttle.

I was able to make a clutch system to drive the shell plates.

Keep in mind, only standard tools found in most garages was used in this build.
    It works for every thing from 9mm, .40s&w, .38spl, .357, .44 mag and .45auto.
I didn't want that monster collector Hornady makes.

This is brilliant, you should post more details so others might copy it!

Great job Pablo! I've been thinking of building one myself. I might have to steal some of your designs

            Yeah that is pretty sweet.

I bet you did not have any replies back when you had posted it initially because nobody had a progressive then...

So I see how the shuttle moves back and forth on the metal guide rod which is a cool manual way of doing it. Similar to the Lee setup.

I am stumped at where you would find the shell plates without buying shell plates though.

If anyone would like more info, I'll be glad to help.

Stilly, are you referring to the collector shell plates? There made out of 1/4" plexiglass.

HAH! I was looking at 1/4" plexi today!

How did you drill them though? I would think that drilling them would give issues and kick them around a bit by grabbing on the edge.

Also, there aint no way in hell anyone is gonna build one of those for $30 today.

Bump the price up to about $50 or so and maybe it can happen, but now I am thinking that I need to build my own. You have inspired me to spend $800 for all the parts to play around with and see if I can make them fit!

But no seriously, I DO believe I might just do this. Mine is gonna have a light in it too, I dunno why, but it will.

I have also been thinking of using wood instead of plexiglass.

OR, maybe a bucket that is just a SKOSH smaller, OR the same size as the 2 gallon buckets.

I want to put ball bearings on mine too so that they can roll nice like. I noticed a guy used wood staples/wire for his "bearings" so that the wood would not tip under the weight of the bullets.

I have also seen square notches cut out for bullets and shells.

                            Stilly,
It's true if I had to buy every piece of metal and plastic for this build.
It would definitely have cost more.
But I have a habit of pack rating things that may come in handy at a later date.
I only had to buy the rotisserie motor, the plastic tubes and the micro switch=$28.00. I just rounded it up.

The shell plates, scribe center lines both direction then take the bucket up side down. Set plexiglass on bucket and line up center lines over the center nub on bucket.
Sharpie around the outside of the bucket on the plastic and cut half the line of the circle with jig saw. The taper of the bucket worked out so the plastic fit nicely in the inside of the bucket.
Now layout holes along the edge equally between quartered scrib lines.
I used a bench drill press.
Drill the holes with the bit just catching the edge and drill slow and easy.
Then use one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/SE-5-OVAL-CA...item1e5c1a7391 to clean up the edges.
I had thought about using 1/4" pressed hardboard but thought it would wear out to fast.
Besides I had the plastic from another project.
Good luck if you try to DIY, I'll be glad to help any way I can.
