new computer problem

So I set up my new pc and inadvertently downloaded vCard cleaner from a site that filled me with adware. Ran malwAre bytes and cleaned up what it found, but the McAfee anti virus is going crazy with blocking more adware every 10 seconds . Is th e 're an easy way to remove this stuff and start over since I haven't even used the pc yet (Windows 7)

That would be my choice as well. If it's as new as you say it is then you won't loose much. Once malware is there, it's a real pain to make it gone for good.

Strap on some armor, choose your weapon and manually hunt the lil buggers down, USUALLY random named files- you got something running as a TSR sounds like and it is dropping trojans all over- and NOT the condom types either. Having a look at your starting files/processes with the sysinternals programs- Autoruns might be good too, prolly just ONE proggy doing it now, once you find it, locate it in the registry, remove it from starting up, save and then pull power cord out to break the cycle, hopefully on next boot it will not start, walk over to the file and pluck it out...

OR, you could go the boring route and reformat/reinstall. At this point, I get what others are saying, it AINT as much fun, but it is effective and DOES save you time.

No need to reformat, a reinstall will work fine, if you have that option (is it "Retail" that lets you do this, upgrade DVD? or does OEM allow for it too?)...

Just delete the OG offending malware installer (or at least make sure not to run it again.

You can't format an OS, but you CAN (re)install in over the top (if you have that option depending on if you have "Retail (Technet)", OEM, or Upgrade media), or you can format the drive and/or partition, then install an OS.

I took this advice and hunted the little bigger down. Found a Rocket application in my registry, uninstalled it, reran Maiwarebytes and McAfee and got the final rocket tab quarantined. WHEW!

Oh- Glad this worked for you. For a system at MY house this is what I would have done, okay, it is what I do, but at work, I let the guys above me take over and they say to scan it and reimage it after copying the profile folders...
