Heh. If you are gonna run Event Viewer, then make sure to view the SYSTEM portion first...

But if this is a graphics related event where it just freezes on an overheat, it may or may not be listed. Things do not always get listed in the event viewer, if the system can get a chance to log it it will, but not always.

ok so I took the side cover off. I have been aiming my fan at it every time I use it. its been working fine so far.

How much dust was inside? Is your CPU and power supply fans working correctly? If they are plugged with dust the heat buildup will cause issues too.

If it IS dusty, use extreme care in cleaning it out, static electricity will destroy hardware in seconds if precautions are not taken.

How do the capacitors look on the board and the card? (the biggest ones are usually bad 1st):

If caps are bad on the board, then you could even have bad caps in the power supply. (I stopped having capacitor issues when I started running even a cheap UPS, but then again there was the capacitor plague for many years.)

Since it is air conditioner season, it might be sags? Lights at work and home flicker a bit during this season.
Do you use a UPS?

My typical hardware test consists of running a Knoppix distro from CD/DVD, and see if it still has issues, and won't effect installed Windows unless you mean to. Try that to see if it has issues running another OS from CD/DVD:

If you have no issues running from CD/DVD, then it is either software related (Windows or driver corruption, infections, bad drivers,etc), or HDD-failure-imminent-related (and Knoppix can check for that with a "sudo su" then a "smartctl -H /dev/sda" resulting in pass/fail, and you can check other SMART data with I think (off top of head) with (I think it is) "smartctl -all /dev/sda" at the command line... I gave up on S.M.A.R.T. checking in Window$ a long time ago.
